2002 Saturn VUE BaseReview

Bought It In A Pinch And Ended Up Falling In Love With It. — I first saw the Saturn VUE at a 2001 Auto Show. It was the only vehicle in the show that caught my attention as one that was new and innovative. Little did I know that six month later I would be driving one. When my luxury vehicle unexpectedly failed a few months later, I gave the VUE a serious look and bought one. The inline 4 cyl. with manual transmission is surprising peppy and economical. The vehicle provides exceptional value for the price. It has been inexpensive and easy to maintain. Like many I was disappointed to see GM drop Saturn. Pros: This vehicle provided surprising value for the price. Cons: Doesn't have the prestige of a BMW, Mercedes or other luxury SUV. |

Good, Safe & Reliable Transportation . — Good, safe family car. Also Great for a tradesman. Fold flat front seat makes it easy to carry something 8ft long. As a gardener I can carry 18 /40lb bags of soil with just the backseats folded down. As a painter/ paperhanger I can carry a paperhanging table and ladder, plus tarps and equipment. 5 speed manual transmission is really great and we were always glad we had it. Primary Use: Family transportation
Pros:
Safety is one of Saturn's biggest assets. We have used 3 wagons and this Saturn Vue. Cons: Not many |

Great Family Car For Store Trips Or Family Outings. — I enjoy the vehicle for long trips and family outings but for commuting it is just ok. If I was buying a new vehicle I would want a newer crossover vehicle like the Ford Edge or something equivlant to it. Overall it is a good vehicle but not excellent like my Porshce. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Great car for traveling with family or for work. Mid-sized SUV but drives good. Great on tires and normal use. If I was buying a new vehicle I would get a Ford Edge to replace this vehicle. Cons: Branking sucks due to the weight of the vehicle or just crappy brakes, does not handle the road very good or in the snow. I would recommend a 4WD vehicle over this vehicle. |

Decent Vehicle For A Family Needing A Little More Room, Deosn't Hold Value, So Cheap $$$ — Brakes constantly squeak, It has good pep for a V-6, but I think the wierd transmission really holds it back, Very reminiscent of the ol Hydro-glide from pontiac. Sluggish gear changes, no definite feel when shift happens. Getting around 20 MPG, city. Interior is cheap, exterior is decent. With a couple of kids, there is plenty of room, plus some extra for trips to the beach. So far has held up with no major repairs, just a wheel hub gone bad. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: the room Cons: trnsmission issues |

Love It — Great little SUV. First year of the Vue. Has some bugs like torque-steer when first accelerating but once you are used to it--its ok. Good gas mileage. AWD is freaking awesome on the ice. Would like a blue one please! Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: perfect size Cons: can't think of any |

Saturn Vue 2002 Sport Package — Roomier than I initially expected, and has consistantly delivered an average of 25 miles+ to the gallon, even on short trips, highway driving peaking at 30 mpgs. Through the years I have noticed odd noises (chirping sounds coming from the doors) due to faulty door latches, luckily an inexpensive fix. Turn radius leaves MUCH to be desired, but all and all, I love my car. Pros: roomy, great gas mileage, dent resistant panels, customer service, warranty Cons: turn radius, early wear on certian body parts |

Excellent About My Car — Feel excellent to have this car. Very good road view and stability. Brakes are good and comfortable driving leg room. Sunroof is really a good one in this car and gives more fun to my family. Awesome! The only problem i feel in my car is less mileage around 18 mpg Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Very comfortable Cons: Less Mileage |

Due to my UBER dependable 2000 Hyundai Accent dieing I was caught in a bind with little money to repair ir or to buy another car. I know I paid WAY too much for this car (over 7 grand due to the type of dealership) but had little options or choices. That said, I was and still am happy with the ride quality of this car, I have the 4 cyl 5 speed... the 5 speed seems REALLY mushy and weak, and the 4 cyl is just too small for this heavy vehicle. The area i live in has 2 major mountains I have to climb one way or the other to leave the small valley where I live... punched, i have to shift all the way down to 3rd gear by the time i am at the top of the mountain (either way) to stay above 50 mph (in a 60 mph road where everyone else is going 70-75). There is a trailer hitch on the Vue and i tremble to think of anyone trying to tow ANYTHING with this... on the freeway, not even keeping up with traffic, the engine revs way too high (65 mph gets me 3500 rpm, 70 is 4 grand) and it takes quite some time to get there. I know I shouldnt expect peppy from a mid sized SUV but at least have enough power to get around slower moving semi trailers in less time than it takes to write an epic length novel lol. As for fuel economy, once again, not expecting the great 33+ mpg my old hyundai used to get, but at California freeway speeds I expect better than 21 mpg... Am I happy I got this one? Yes, it beats feet. Would I buy another or reccomend one of these to anyone? no. vs2000 Hyundai Accent

"if they were the ONLY 2 vehicles and i had to choose one or get castrated, i would (after considerable thought on if I REALLY needed my jewels) choose the saturn just for the interior room. I am 6 and the Montero would put me in thre hospital with a concussion just getting in and out of it on a daily basis" |

Rebuilt transmission was on its last legs when I rolled it into the dealer lot. Was happy to $500 for it in trade. When it was running, it was a real trooper. Safe, stable, if uninspiring. vs2008 Honda Element LX AWD
