2001 Nissan Frontier Review
Klimek99 says:
Nice truck for the money. Have had some transmission problems. It is an automatic and it will only move forward after starting if it is in second gear not drive. Once it warms up I have no problems. It runs great.

Love It. — I loved it overall. The seats are manual, and the back seat is kinda small, and the moonroof sucks. But the rest of the truck is amazing. I love it to death, and I can't wait to upgrade it some more

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Aggressive looks, good bed size, nice speakers, easy to park, handles well off road even the 2WD models, accelerates well, has a back seat. Cargo rack on roof, nice rims, fender flares.

Cons: Accelerator is a tiny bit stick, breaks rather hard

I Love This Truck For Its Versatility. — Great truck to handle small to med size jobs, like getting rocks or dirt for the yard, lumber etc. Also great for getting to the outdoors like biking, hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking etc. Its a 4x4 so snow and mud is no problem and with 4 doors you can take your friends with you too. It is small enough to fit anywhere and yet it has power to haul a trailer with a car on it. Overall, it is just a great Truck!

Pros: Excellent small truck.  Fits a small family or 4 adults easily with room in the bed for luggage or a dog.  Enough bed space to fit appliances or furniture.  Truck small size makes it easy to drive and park anywhere.

Cons: Though the bed space is decent, sometimes a 6 foot bed would be nice.

A Good All Around Truck For The Non-work Truck Crowd. — My friends who drove my truck would always remark about how quickly it accelerated! AND to me, compared to other trucks I have driven, this truck handled well - turned well, accelerated well, stopped pretty well. There are NO blind spots in this truck! With the tailgate down this truck has hauled two dirtbikes at once! And for three years in a row, it went to almost every USC home game as the tailgate vehicle. I was very happy with it, but I traded it in - sadly, it was time for me to move on and get something a little more sophisticated.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: A truck that drives like a car.

Cons: In later years, expect high maintenance costs.

My Nissan! — Love the looks, the handling, dependability! Aside from changing a battery, timing belt, starter, and changing my oil, I have had this truck since 2001 and nothing else has gone down, oh and brakes have been replaced a couple of times.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: I have loved everything about my Nissan!

Cons: No negatives!

Good Dependable Small Truck. — This has been a good truck all around, mine has over 200K on it and still going good. I still get complements on it's looks. Find that I wish it had a taller overdrive gear. Nissan charges way to much for their parts but after markets are becoming very available. It tends to be a bit nose heavy, it is a pickup, 200lbs of sand bags in the bed make it very drive-able. Changing the #6 plug is insane, some engineer should be slapped.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Drives and handles well.

Cons: Poor gas milage, AVG 16-18MPG

My Truck — I love the truck, but I want more power in it! Other than that it is a great running machine! It has plenty of space for me to pick up my son when I have him. It carries 5 people. Run's well, but could have a better gas mileage. Seems to be rusting quite a bit though.

Pros: Plenty of space to put things, drives well, low maintance cost if any.

Cons: Could have more power, could have better gas mileage.

01 Frontier, Like Not Love — Just okay. Not great. reliable but with some cheap aspects. Really needs more low end grunt. Handles poorly. Wish it had cruise control. It was a great value at $13.5k. Fuel economy is pretty good when empty, but a marked decline when there is anything in it. It has done almost everything I've asked of it, but has never been a great vehicle. Its not a vehicle that I get into everyday and say to myself "nothing could be better."

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: cost to own.

Cons: power, cheap tailgate

Love It — performance- acceleration could be better, brakes the best, handling really good even in the ice. build quality- good except for the plastic parts but good in general appearance-this is how i fall for this car cost of ownership- except when gas is high normal fun factor the best four year of my life

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: quality

Cons: none

My Nissain —

it has the 3.3L v6 with the automatic transmission. i overhauled the engine at around 150,000 miles. the transmission need to have a sift valve replacement. right now it will rev high and some times lag the sift from 2nd to 3rd. i found out the truck would kill the engine at 95 mph. instaled a scanner/programer and reprogramed the ecu to forget that. 2.75 inch exhaust with magnaflow high flow cats and summit racing mufflers. k&n cold air intake.i always give it a tune up every 25,000 miles or 4 months depending on driving conditions.i had to replace the factory suspencion with KYB gas shocks, and deaver leaf springs out back and coils up front. i replaced the upper and lower a-arms and all the bushings up front as well when i installed new brake rotors. it still makes the classic nissian truck turning grind or creacking sound, but not as bad. right now i have 31 inch geolander all terrains on it. they are ok. the truck is silver and dark gray but that fadded over time. not the best on gas only mybe 320 miles to a tank depending on the stuation. around town it kinda sucks but ok on highways. confortable front seats and if your cramed into the back im sorry. im impressed with how it handles offroad when im slamming it around or even jumping it. never got it stuck yet but almost hydrolocked it once. used it to pull a jeep out of an offroad park then used my bumper to push on the spare tire of the jeep and pushed it about 50 miles back home. so shes a good work horse and can still play on the weekends. i have loaded 3 dirt bikes, gear bags, and other things for a riding weekend and it still pulled up a grade.

Pros: ride height. power. good sound system. lockers from the factory. the truck never let me down.

Cons: the 6th spark plug is between the fire wall and the block(no work room). gas milage. the front ends in nissains are famous for braking componets. and way to much plastic
