1991 Jeep Cherokee Review
OVJeepGirl says:
I had a Jeep for several years and worked on it continuously. It was a money eater, in both gas and maintenance, but nothing was more fun to drive off road than this. I sorely miss it because of that. I was told that my jeep had some of the most comfortable seats by many of its passengers, and despite how loud it could be to drive in, it was a really fun car to be in. vs2008 Dodge Caliber
1991 Jeep Cherokee winning categories:
Power
Ranked 2008 Dodge Caliber better.
"The engine was a lot stronger in general, my Jeep has a hard time going up hill and staying at a decent speed, it only liked to go 45MPH, anything above that was a struggle. The Caliber on the other hand was very easy to drive and it had no problems going as fast as you like, but a CVT engine is really weird if youve never driven one before."
Value
Ranked 2008 Dodge Caliber better.
"Everything, basically. Ive heard you can get Calibers in AWD, but I have yet to come across one on the market. Aside from my many days missed offroading, Ive found the Caliber to be much more practical, getting greater MPG and having a nicer sound system, as well as more comfortable seating arrangements for passengers. And cup holders, which I never took to be a luxury item until I didnt have them." |

Fun — great jeep other then the oil leak. it is a 22 year old jeep with a lift, so the little things are what i have to watch for, nss, tps, etc. it does perform really well wherever i decide to take it. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: plenty of power Cons: needs some suspension work |

Worth Every Penny — I bought this Jeep for $1,350 and then I put nothing in it. Then I traded it in for $1,750. It shows how this car kept it's value. Never showed of sold it. It was a top of the line model for 1991. The 4 wheel drive was also awesome it had 2wd, 4 high, 4 low, and 4 wheel drive part time in 1991. Never used the part time, but it had it. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: It was fun Cons: When I sold it |

For The Real Off Roaders Who Like Small Wheelbase Projects — I got this jeep only because i actually found a 5-speed four door with minor rust. I love short wheel based vehicles. The engine has 266.XXX on it and still has good power and even better torque which is most important. These are cheap to work on and easy to wrench on. Everything is pretty straight forward. For a easy axel upgrade i recommend a chrylser 8.25 outback. havent had any problem with mine and i have used this vehicle in extreme abuse. I think that it mostly appeals to younger people who still like to thrash on things. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Straight six extremely reliable, AX-15 trans never slippin,Rugged ridge crossover steering works great, 6in rough country lift kit with 2in coil spacers and 2in leaf blocks gives all of the ground clearence i need. I have 33-12.5 R15 Baja Claws. Cons: Rather small interior room, really small window frames. 231 J transfer case drive chains are weak and the uni body what the were they thinking. No manual locking hubs and the conversion kit is rather expensive. |

Find One With Minor Rust, Amazing Trucks. — Good truck. Engine and tranny were amazing, although rust was a problem. Rocker panels and floors were rusted, but not rotted through, yet. 4wd worked perfectly. Very stable offroad, did not rock or sway. Was even stable on highway at high speeds. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Amazing on and off road. Cons: Bad gas mileage on big tires. |

Jeep Sherokee — Acceleration is little lacking, really could use a supercharger. Build quality for this is great, the paint they used sucks the clear coat turned white and is flaking off. Awesome to drive off road and nice and small so it fits on just about any trail while still having room for 4 people. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: 4wd Cons: Gas mileage |
