This is not a death trap! I drove this thing over and through everything. You have to do something stupid to flip it! It does leave you wanting a lot more in the power department, but it is so incredibly reliable it isn;t funny. Plus a 10 mm and 12 mm wrench will pretty much disassemble the whole thing! Highly RecommendSep 11, 2014

Performance is great with a few mods, not that great if it is stock.
Build Quality it is one tough piece of machine.
Appearance is very rugged.
It is cheap to maintain, parts are cheap and fuel economy is the best you can find.
It is most fun car to take off road. No fear of breaking parts.May 11, 2013

I like to bomb around in my 1988 Suzuki Samurai. It has a mild Suspension lift via a Jeep YJ spring swap kit and 29in Toyo tires. I currently have running off a ZOR my-side2 Harley Davidson Side-draft conversion setup.Dec 04, 2011

I had an 88, which was not an option. A cute, but small 4X4, this is the little SUV that could. She could go places in 2WD that bigger $WDs wouldn't tread. I drove it sideways up a 75 degree incline. So steep, I could reach over and touch the ground through the passenger's window. The engine was terribly slow, but the 30MPG was great. When I literally threw a piston, it still went, and I was able to overtake a car that was preventing me from merging onto the shoulder. After towing it 100 miles, and it losing all of it's oil along the way, it still cranked and drove to th backyard to be repaired. The braking was poor. But, it was stable, and very fun to drive, especially with the tops off.Oct 11, 2010

It was a good vehicle, seemed to be reliable, intereor was not real comfortable especially with two people in it, was once told "it felt like being in a can of sardines". The power was disappointing, to say the least; fuel economy was alright about 20-21, handling was not very good, more than likely due to it being so narrow. This is an excellent off-road vehicle, will go almost anywhere.May 05, 2010

I love owning this Zuk it is fun to drive on and off road not real great on the freeway but it is stable and it feels like your safe (at least the way I drive it). It is pretty easy to fix and parts have gotten a little easier to find in the last 10 years I have owned it.Feb 17, 2010

Low on performance and handling on road, fiddly roof, but good running costs and great fun off road, shamed many more full blown off roaders, no boot space.Jun 27, 2008

First of it's an 1986, but this app only goes to 1990!
Some strange fellow put a 1.8 Isuzu Diesel in it...yes the same engine as my Chevette! While it's a great reliable motor, it has no more power than the stock gas engine. But still, I love this rig, it's simple, reliable, and can climb over sand as steep as sand will pile. In spite of the lack of power, it still preforms quite well, once you get use to it. Oh did I mention that it looks amazing!May 27, 2008
