This car has been in my family since it was new and we love it. Its Sleek, powerful, and handles great. Not the most reliable car in the world but definitely worth a look. Some upsides would be that its got a nice turbo, handles great, fast, rare, looks cool, good clutch feel. There quite a few downsides number one would certainly be it is VERY hard to find parts for, finicky, ours has gone through 4 engines since 1988, leaks oil (seems like a design flaw) no one has ever heard of it, odd tire size (225/50VR16), basic maintenance is hard. This is definitely an enthusiasts car, and not one for the faint of heart, or wallet.

Fun And Unique. — Vehicle was fun to drive, but heavy. Starions were never considered ground breaking but they were beautiful and unique cars. Fair acceleration, good top speed, Average brakes,Cost of ownership wasn't bad, but the car gets horrible gas mileage. I always enjoyed driving this car.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Styling was second to none, Incredibly different and unique.

Cons: Engine was terrible... Single Cam inline four cylinder. Turbo intercooled 2.6 liter engine is not the best engine in the mitsubishi line-up but they made it work as best they could.

I'll Be Buried In This Car — After you work out all of Mitsubishi's kinks they have in these cars, they work great! It has Lots of torque that matches its beautiful, yet aggressive, widebody. When anyone tries to pull on me, If I don't smoke them, then I definitely put up a fight.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

    Pros: Turbo...

    Cons: Its a money pit!

Suddenly, The Obvious Choice. — Build Quality: My car is holding up well, however I imagine that this is because I have rebuilt the entire car. Car Comparisons: The other car I was looking at was a 1985 Toyota Supra. I got the Starion because it was the rarer, and faster car. Performance: This car LIVES to be driven at 10/10ths. Best Of The 80s — I still own and operate two, one as a race car the other my former daily driver/resto project. The daily has not let me down, even when it cracked a head by the jet valve, and when a radiator was punctured. Not without flaws, but this has been one of the best balanced cars I've had. In competition the wieght has been the only detracting aspect of the Starion. A real gem when you can get them.

Pros: Solid and reliable, unknown by many, never let me down

Cons: parts availability, some design flaws that must be worked beyond, heavy!

1988 Mitsubishi Starion Ex Turbo — Typical Low-Budget Sportscar of the 1980, with turbocharger that develops all the power at one time. Spectacular, but technology and appearance are no more up-to-date, what makes out of the Starion a car for fans and collectors.

Pros: Good equipment, performance is ok

Cons: Road holding and brakes are mediocre, problems with rust
