Fun Times — he Ramcharger was primarily produced as a full-time four wheel drive vehicle, although a two wheel drive version was available starting in 1975. My 1988 Ramcharger has rear wheel drive in which only 10% was of these trucks was produced that year. It also has a 360/ 5.9 Liter engine.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: VERY DURABLE VEHICLE....FUN

Cons: Burns Gas!

Big Black Lemon — Aside from that, the dealership messed up getting the truck. I wanted power doors, windows and A/C. Didn't even care if it had a radio. They found this thing for more $ but it didn't have any of the options i wanted. Don't ever sign the paperwork before you inspect the vehicle!!! Was pouring rain and they said they were just cleaning it up. Stupid mistake on my part and when the trans went, just a mess!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Was great vehicle, power enough. Comfortable even on long trips. 2 w/d version

Cons: A bit on the large side. Had issues with rear tailgate leaks. Mine was a lemon, bad transmission. Would lock in a higher gear when stopped at a light, then suddenly drop down into 1st and jump forward while you alarmingly tried to adjust the pressure on the brake pedal. All this with 800miles on it! While i was trying to get my wedding organized. Bought it for honeymoon trip from MA to Quebec,Canada. It made it but boy was it more stressful than it needed to be!

Awesome — I need to do a lot of work to it. Great truck espesially for $400. Vibrates at 55 and up for some reason. Tires and wheels are balanced and round. U-joints are good, driveline is balanced. Must be the bushings. Put your foot into it and away you go.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: 17 mpg, and plenty of power. 318 tbi with 727.

Cons: Vibrates at 55 plus.

1988 Dodge Ramcharger 4x4 5.2l — Performance is good for the most part but its a little to heavy to be fast. Ownership cost is high for gas but low for repairs. Its very fun to drive looks great in my opinion. Build quality is very good and the 318 engine is built to last. Overall its a great vehicle for those who like to tow stuff, go off-roading and go on adventures.

Pros: Interior room, towing, off-road ability and reliability.

Cons: Not very fast, gas-guzzler.

Dodge Ramcharger — Tough, reliable, solid and loyal. I love how easily it starts on a cold morning, and I love how it never has any drive train related problems. I love my Dodge, but it does have flaws: fuel economy (12 mpg) and could use a bit more power (only 230hp at the engine).

Pros: looks, reliability

Cons: fuel economy
