Top American Sports Car In 1985 — i bought this 1985 corvette with 3200 original miles on it,drove it home and it has resided in mygarage ever since.i have driven it a total of 700 hundred miles, this car is not a driver or weekend car.it is driven once or twice a year and not very far.i would like to really drive it more and get to know it better but i think it should be kept as an investment car and for someone else down the road to do the same.

Pros: handling is tight, seats comfortable, great bose speakers,

Cons: dash electrics malfunction whether you have 100 miles on car or 10 thousand.

Overall Alot Of Car For The Money — This is my first corvette and it has not disappointed. Fast strong and stuck to the road. You look out over that long hood and know that its just you and the motor and she inspires you to use all 230 horses. Confidence is what this car makes in spades, you know she will run wild but the brakes also will regain control and bring to you down to reality when needed. She temps you to hit corners faster and hammer you way out.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Comfortable, did not expect it to be as comfortable as it is, fast, handling is amazing, resurgence of horsepower from Chevrolet.

Cons: Bose stereo system installed by factory has history of going bad, amps are expensive to replace, harmonic balancer also has history of failure causing timing issues

Great Driver — Not for show. Needs to be driven to really enjoy it. With the top off it is very enjoyable to travel around in. It was an everyday driver for me until I retired. Now it is an occasional ride on nice days

Pros: Great power and handling

Cons: 2seater

Performance Is Outstanding — I fell in love with the looks of this model when it came out in 1984 but I waited until the '85 model to buy one. I have owned it since new. The car has always lived up to my hopes. after 28 years it still turns heads.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: power,handling

Cons: nothing

Race Ready — Like: I like the new carburated 350 engine. The factory fuel injected engine has been replaced with a higher HP 350 with a simple Edelbrock Carburator. It gets 20 MPG, no computers to deal with, and winds out quickly. Dis-Like: I dont like the plastic interrior, which is typical for the 80's model Chevys. I dont like the electronic dash cluster. Difficult to view. Ride is terrible, but is a sacrifice for road handeling.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: The car is a pleasure to drive. It looks and sounds like it should be on the race track with very little prep work. I bought a true classic hot rod for under $5000.00 with very little work done after the purchase of the car. Over, all I am pleased with my weekend sunday racer.

Cons: This car is hard to enter and exit. Once inside the car, the gauge cluster is difficult to read and see. Lots of road noise, vibrations and rattles which can be expected from an 80's model auto.

Fun Car To Have, Pay Someone Else To Fix It Though. —

This car is a great car to drive. It turns alot of heads especially when you have one when youre 16-19 years old. It handles great, but can feel a little loose in rear end because it is so light. As a stock car and before someone really beats on it the build quality of these cars is great, just don't get in an accident, they're fiberglass. They are not the fastest corvettes made because of the gas crunch of the time and thanks to EPA. They are one of the first good handling corvettes made. Be carefull in buying them though, alot of people like to cover up accidents on these cars, and it can be difficult to find them in good shape. As I was repainting mine, I had to sand through 13 layers of paint, 3 of which were top coats, so this is the 4th time this car has been painted. Cost of ownership?????? Comon, it's a corvette, everything for this car is double what it is for any other car.... it does get surprisingly good gas mileage though, when youre being nice to it. Oh and the manual tranny in these made a huge difference, Ive driven both and my automatic is sooo slow compared to the manual. Overall this is a very fun car to drive, a bit bumpy as you can expect from an 85 street car, but more cost effective for low budget people, and also still a head turner.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: It's a Corvette

Cons: Expensive to repair
