2004 Porsche 911 GT2 Turbo Summary

The Porsche 911 GT2 Turbo coupe was the most powerful 911 model available for 2004. Under the hood was a turbocharged 3.6-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine that produced 477 horsepower, up 21 horsepower from the previous year. That was enough to drive the GT2 from 0 to 60 in just 4 seconds, and to 125 mph in 12.5 seconds.
The GT2 Turbo's suspension and shocks were retuned and upgraded for 2004, and the car's anti-lock braking system was improved as well. In addition, the GT2 Turbo came with Porsche's ceramic composite brakes, an industry first.
A six-speed manual overdrive tranmission was standard for the GT2 Turbo. However, unlike the other 911s, it was not available with Porsche's five-speed automatic Triptronic transmission.
In keeping with the GT2 Turbo's racing heritage, the vehicle came with a stripped-down list of standard features, when compared with the other 911s, but was still nicely outfitted with such features as air conditioning, leather seats, dual front and side airbags, a keyless entry system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, bi-xenon high-intensity headlights with headlight cleaners, a premium audio system, and power windows, steering, brakes, and door locks.
Options included carbon-fiber exterior trim, a six-disc CD changer, and heated front seats.
The 2004 911 GT2 Turbo was one of a long line of near iconic Porsche sports cars that promised a lot to drivers, and delivered on those promises in almost every way. The handling, power, shifter, suspension, and interior appointments all met or exceeded drivers' expectations.
