The base version of Kia's all-new minivan is the 2002 Sedona LX, a 7-passenger family van with removable second and third rows that also can be moved forward and aft to accommodate more cargo space or more legroom.  Sitting on 15-inch wheels, the 3.5-liter, 195-hp DOHC V6 engine and 5-speed automatic can two up to 3500 pounds.  Maximum cargo space with all seats removed is 128 cubic feet, and the cargo area features tie-downs.  A roof rack is optional.

The base model LX features power windows, doors, and locks, and cruise control.  Intermittent wipers and a rear window wiper are also standard. There are four power outlets, and front and overhead consoles.  A tape player is standard, but a CD player is optional.  Though it rates high in crash tests, the 2003 Sedona LX only has dual front airbags.  ABS brakes are extra.  Appearance-wise, a rear spoiler is available as well.  Drivers say the ride is quiet and smooth, and the interior space is practical and comfortable for families.  Poor fuel economy and frequent repairs for this first-year minivan are common complaints.
