The Audi TT enters its next generation with some updates to enhance its handling and road performance, in an effort to make it behave on the inside more like the sports car it appears to be on the outside. Still sporting the landmark domed design that cocoons passengers in sleek, luxurious comfort, the 2008 TT is actually 5 inches longer and 3 inches wider than the first generation. It features Audi's controversial wide-mouthed grille and new standard 19-inch wheels. Its curvy body is made of an aluminum and steel combination. The aluminum helps lighten the heavy sports car, while the steel frame in the back gives more supportive and controlled handling.
The 2008 TT will be offered initally as a Coupe, to be followed by a Roadster later in the year. Only two engines are offered - the new 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, direct fuel injection (FSI) turbo at 200 hp and the holdover 3.2-liter, 250-hp V6. The 2.0 engine comes only in front-wheel drive, while the 3.2 will offer quattro all-wheel drive. Both come standard with a 6-speed manual or optional S-tronic double-clutch sequential manual transmission, similar to those used by race car drivers. The improved engine power and innovative powertrain means better in-town performance and hill-climbing capabilities in addition to the expert highway handling exhibited by the TT.
Other changes to look forward to are an improved rear suspension and the imminent arrival of the variable air suspension later in the year, which adjusts ride height according to road conditions. A new rear spoiler pops up at speeds greater than 75 mph. Also in the works is an RS version of the TT, with the 3.2-liter V6 tweaked to get 350 hp. Inside, all the standard luxuries of Audi abound, with the addition of the central MMI control interface and optional navigation system, Bluetooth capability, and a parking assist system. The coupe's trunk is still large and practical for storage, and the aluminum-accented dash controls are well laid out.
Early reviews love the power, sporty look, and quattro performance, but wish it had more audible grunt and road feel for the driver. Audi's influential sports car continues to turn heads with its still-modern design, and it seems to be adding the performance components to make it a nice speedster for 2008.

Bought this car as a gas-friendly, fun commuter car. I have small kids, so they fit in the rear seat easily and have no problem popping in and out past the front seats - as they get older this will change. Overall it's been awesome, and has worked surprisingly well as a family car - my wife actually enjoys the days she has it rather than dreading it as you would expect.Dec 09, 2013

Bought this car used. It had around 35k on it, is an S-Line and, other than some light wear on the driver's seat edge, it looked new. It drives new too. It inspires me to take the long way home. The motor is torquey all over but due to the car's weight, it can be outran by its competitors. The handling, however, is superb. Even if the AWD system isn't RWD biased, it still grips hard. build quality:built at a german factory,where even a millimetre deviation is not accepted.....built like a tank but the detiailed like katrina kaif...curvacious yet pretty.
appearance:ull get more stares than u can handle...welcome 2 the celebrity life...the audi tt.
cost of ownership:treat her like ur girlfriend,indulge her and ull have the time of ur life,bite her nd she bites back hard

The TT 2.0T is fun to drive and looks great. The DSG gives the best of both worlds giving smooth shifts in auto mode or quick shifts in manual mode with a great little exhaust rasp at each hard shift. Acceleration is quick once you get going and the 2.0T provides good power and torque while returning respectable mpg. The car is well put together with materials that offer high quality to the touch and look fantastic. This car is fun to drive.Jul 05, 2009

This car is quick but isn't going to kill you, fast enough
to beat most cars off the line without depleting the
gulf's oil supply. Drives on rails and very fun to drive.
Looks stunning although your girlfriend will probably
look better in it than you do. Done 10,000 miles now
without a hick-up, is comfortable on country roads

This is one of the most fun car in the world.The build in quality is excellent and the performance is fairly very good.It is voted the best coupe car last year and this year too.The appearance has improve drasticly than the previous TT and the cost of owning it is average.Fun Factor?Well it scores high for it as it is a good car to run in the cities.But the one I recomment is the 2.0L Turbo one which is much more better than the 3.2 LJul 31, 2008

I know own the new TT for nearly a year and I really love it. It does everything you want from a car like this and a little more. The attention to detail from the designers is worth a note. The car looks gorgeous and doesn't get boring. It is not as vulgar as a SLK or BMW Z4, but the car still draws some attention when crawling through town. Nearly everyone I met really likes the TT.
Also it is very practical to use, because you get a really big boot, which is easy to access.
The interior looks amazing and everything fells good and built solid as well.
Some technical details like the S-Tronic (double clutch sytem) amazes you every day. It's brilliant!Apr 24, 2008

Interior: very good interior with good sound system but far too small for either front or rear Especially rear (virtually no leg room).
Exterior: Very welcomed improvment on the past model with moder lines.
Handling: very light and prescise handling but the road holding could be better (Audi A6 has a better road Grip = less prone to losing control)
Performance : Audi-Volkswagens 2.0 Turbocharged engine with 200hp at 6000 rpm that can make 0-62 in less than 6.5 sec, exceptional GearBox the same one that is used in Formula One Racing (Manual without clutch instead they use peddels behinde the steering wheel) that can be used either as a standard 6 speed Auto or Sporty Auto or manual shifting (the shift takes less than a few milliseconds!)Jan 08, 2008

I drove this Audi TT. Belongs to a friend of mine. He's a fan of Audi's. He has the A4,the TT and the A8 which belongs to his company and he would soon consider an A5 while the R8 is out of his league as he said. but what sort of person is he? ermm, he's not such a fun person. I mean he plays golf, workaholic and only drives his TT on weekends and barely has time for holiday. So why does he like Audi so much?
Build Quality,it's got a good name, it's made by Germans especially. Well there's only 3 Audi's that I would actually consider
- Audi RS4
- Audi RS6
- Audi R8
and all of them starts with an R
Well this new TT. It's pretty much an improved version of the old one, I mean the old TT was Audi's first attempt on creating a Fun Car made for weekends and a contender to the old SLK and the BMW Z3. Then Merc came out with SLK AMG and BMW came with AC Schnitzer Z3 and what did Audi gave the TT. Quattro! a 4wd roadster? doesnt seem right at all. When it is a Fun Car Roadster means that you bought this car to have fun and not for it to have wonderful top of the class AWD handling. You're not going to drive it in rain because it's a roadster and when you're at the beach you would let the top open and beaches don't have windy roads and when you actually make use of the AWD you're car would be all dirty. So why do you put an AWD on this TT!
I understand have a AWD on an R8 because thats a supercar not a roadster and the RS4 and RS6 are big cars with big heavy people on it driving. So i still dont see a point why you have a fuel guzzling AWD on a car like this. Beats me really. I REST MY CASEJan 06, 2008

Just test drove the 3.2 and 2.0 '08 TT's and was suitably impressed.
Smooth and powerful, especially in Sport Mode. The exhaust is only heard with the top down (So, you have to get a roadster to enjoy it, the hardtop keeps it quiet). As I approach my later years, I have come to enjoy a smooth but powerful ride. Some folks like the jolt of acceleration, and a stiff suspension, but I prefer something more refined.
My Grail Car would be a DB9(Yes, I did drive it), but the '08 TT comes pretty close, and saves about $100K.
Only one thing I found a bit unsettling...
On the car I test drove, there seemed to be a lag when the accelerator was pressed and the car responded. It was noticable to me and was not present on the 2.0 I also test drove. Perhaps it was just this vehicle (I hope so!)I will try to arrange another Test Drive in the near future and will report back.
2nd problem seemed to be in the retractable roof on the Roadster. In the showroom when I retracted the roof, one of the small side covers would not fold down. When I test drove another car the same thing happened, this time both flaps would not fold down and it engaged a warning light on the dash (the salesperson then proceeded to 'force' the side panels down in order to get the warning light to go out, to no avail).
