Mercedes-Benz made no engine changes to the 1995 C280, although the car did come fully equipped with walnut wood surrounding the dash and on the doors, front seats that could find 10 different positions, and a Dolby sound system.
The '95 Benz C280 was a mid-size luxury car, at the lower end of the luxury lines as far as "poshness" goes, but it had everything else: reliability, dependability, performance, and driving comfort (even if the passenger front seat was a bit stiff). And, one living in northern climes must admit, the addition of heated exterior mirrors and windshield washer nozzles was a nice touch. Even better, though, was the choice of two optional traction systems to control wheel spin.
Owners rave about the (relative) fuel efficiency of the C280 as well as its heating and cooling systems. But, in true status-conscious fashion, most also admit to appreciating the looks and attention they get when driving the '95 Benz C280.
Beware though. Because the car handles so well and drives so easily, it's quite easy (as many have found) to end up going much faster than you think you are. That said, many drivers prefer the additional torque and power offered by the C280, and Mercedes-Benz sold many more '95 C280s than they did its very similar C220.
