The 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is the first of the seventh generation of this car. Some do not believe that it deserves to start off a new generation, as restyling seems relatively minor to earn such a title.
A new line of engines comes in this new generation. The standard is a 3.5-liter LZE V6 rated at 211 horsepower with 220 torque. The 3.9-liter LZ9 rated at 240 horses comes next, topped off with the 5.3-liter LS4 V8, rated at 303 horsepower and 323 torque.
A new instrument panel and pit-like feel greet the driver, as do more comfortable seats. Many drivers of this vehicle love the peppiness of the engine, especially in the high-end SS. There were some complaints about the shakiness of the base model.

I wished I could get more speed out of this vehicle, but highway wise it was the best Monte Carlo SS I have ever driven. I will purchase this car again, and I hope it's the 2007. Looks great with stock rims.Dec 28, 2014

Always wanted 1 of the last Monte Carlos with the V8. Wish came true in
July 2012 after searching everywhere in MA, finally found 1 in CT. Drove
down on a saturday and bought it and drove home 2 hours later. Only has
55K miles. The 4cyl mode is a lil weird. But overall I love the car and

I love the 3.5l engine, just wish it was more supported by the aftermarket. Fuel economy is great, around 35 mpg on average as long as I stay away from the E85. Build quality is alright, and it rides and drives nicely. Great car wish GM still made it.May 12, 2009

Excellent fuel mileage for a vehicle this size, it's a very well built car, performance is good, the handling is fantastic, I like the long, wide appearance of the car, and on a curvy road, it's a blast to drive.....Jan 24, 2009

Smoked a BMW at 150 MPH on the way home from Talladega after I got it. Overall quality inside and out. Runs on 4 cyl when 8 is not needed. Great mileage for an V8. The new Camaro is my next dream car!Jan 18, 2009

The acceleration, braking, and handling are all adequate for the price you're paying. If you want better in all catagories...get the SS.
No repairs have been needed and there are no noises, but water seems to get in behind the door panel.
Interior design is good enough for me...not too fancy, but the exterior isn't exactly my style, but it's not ugly.
It gets decent gas-mileage. Usually around 20 or more per mile. No extra mainanence has been needed aside from scheduled tune-ups.

Ever since Monte Carlo came out with the new body style in '06, I knew I had to purchase one... The LT 3.9L has the same performance levels as the SS except it lacks the SS symbol on the exterior. Over All this is a great one to two person car.May 12, 2008

5.3L V8 with 303 Horsepower. How can you go wrong with that. It also has GM's Displacement on Demand shutting off 4 cylinders when they are not needed. Helping save a little in the pocket on gas.Apr 24, 2008

I purchased the car used at a Mercury dealer with only 6,000 miles. The car is flawless and performed beyond my expectations. I average 21 mpg city. Haven't traveled on any long trips so highway mileage is unknown. After five years only the rack and pinion has been replaced under warranty. With 79,000 miles tires, battery, and brakes have been the only wear items. My wife drives it daily fifty miles round trip and gets 24 mpg. I drive it on the weekends and it's as much fun to drive as the day we bought it.Feb 03, 2008

Got this Monte in August of '06 with 16/17k miles on it. Now sitting at about 48k miles. I've
only put about $900 into her. Had exhaust work done in July of '07, installed two 12"
Kenwoods in the trunk with a 400 watt amp, drop in K&N filter until I get around to making a
custom intake, 7 color LED underglow, various other little things all through out aswell. It's

milage 27 hwy and 15 to 17 town. I thoght that could be better,

Great combination of comfort, style and performance. I've taken it on a few long drives (300-500 miles each) and never feel fatigued. Whenever I need to pass - no problem! Good sound system. Good handling. Have had some trouble with various censors (tire pressure, engine, etc.) All have been bad censors - no actual problems with the vehicle.May 21, 2007

Can anybody Help me please?
I want to see If anybody can help me out. I have a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Will having a problem with it. All my electrical stuff in my car besides my radio will just shut off while I am driving. Then when I put my car in park. It won’t come out of park. So when I shut my car off. It won’t turn back on. It might take fives minutes to turn back on it days. I have had different people look at it for me. I had it towed to a shop and then towed to the dealership. They tested to see if My body control module was going to put. They said it wasn’t amd they cleared out numerous history codes. They thought they had fixed the problem. But they didn’t last night it did it to me again. I couldn’t get my window to roll up. So my inside of my car got flooded. When I had my car at The first Shop. Someone broke my back window out. I’m out probably $400.00 total Trying to fix my car and i think it’s worse now. Then what it was before trying to get it fixed. But if Anybody at all. Might know what’s wrong with my car could let know. I would be very thankful and appreciative.

HVAC Blower not running
HVAC blower stopped running. Replaced resistor, but that didn't solve the issue. Blower motor tested OK when 12 volts were applied. Disconnected wires going to motor and checked voltage at red wire going to resistor with 12 volts present with the ignition switch on. 12 volts were present at red wire coming to resistor but dropped to 0-2 volts when test light was touched to red wire terminal. It also did this with the climate control disconnected. Fuses seemed to test OK. Any ideas?
