The building of the Escape shifted from Japan to Taiwan for the 2007 model, and many other changes followed as well. Externally, changes include a new grille, head- and tail-lights, and bumpers.
For an SUV (albeit a small SUV), the car gets excellent mileage: 23/26 city/highway. The feel of the engine may reflect this economy, as the base 2.3L engine generates only 150 horsepower at 5800 rpm. Regardless, the little SUV is a fun one to drive as you can zip among the bigger machines while still having a fairly commanding view of the road.
