2001 Ford Taurus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 2001 Ford Taurus, I had to pump
the gas to get it to start. So I replaced the
fuel pump, It started great right after that.
Then the next day, it would turn on..lights
and radio worked fine but when I went to
start it...nothing! No clicking, no sounds at
all. I replaced the starter, battery, & ignition
switch...but still nothing! The theft light is
blinking but slowly..please help, Idk what
else to do.

If the anti-theft light is not blinking and goes off when you turn the key on, then the anti-theft is not stopping the car from starting. Since it blinks slowly when key is turned to start and not rapidly with key on, in-which the computer will stop the car from starting as detected a problem a reset can be done at a ford dealer, done mostly after replacing the computer, or instrument cluster on that car. Try pulling the (PATS FUSE) see if it starts or try to close all the doors & windows & lock the car with remote or manually then open it with the key see if that works.

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward all the way just before cranking. Then within 5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the valet/overide button, found under the dash area, (push button, spring loaded) until the installed LED (the blinking light) in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once. (Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type. in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction, then turn the key off.) This should reset the alarm, and reset the grounded relay on the starter wire, allowing you to start the engine. At this point, the only thing working would be the keyless entry from the alarm, if it came equipped that way. Just Repeat these steps to place it back to usable armed mode. You may get 2 chirps, confirming it, and the lights may flash twice as well

But since it is not blinking fast pats is not the issue or its blinking fast ans you think its slow.
