2007 ford escape

I push gas pedal and it hesitates also a rough start
idle like a loud pinging noise or vibration when I
press the gas only when I start it when it's cold

Have it scanned for fault codes but this sounds like the throttle position sensor. It's a cheap part and easy to reach. I just did one on my 2004 Taurus which has the same engine if you have the six cylinder Duratec.
