Engine Swap

Asked by GuruL5KJM Mar 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM about the 1997 Ford F-150 XLT 4WD Extended Cab Stepside SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can I put a Ford 2006 4.6L engine in a 1997 Ford truck that came with a 4.6L engine?

Not necessarily a direct swap. You may or may not have the same version of the engine as there are two different engine plants making two different style engines.

Both engines are Romeo but I was wondering about the potential sensor, computer, and wiring issues.
