One of the belts broke..not sure what to replace..
the battery light came on 25 miles after it
broke..I'm only assuming it's the alternator belt
..I'm being told timming belt but I don't believe that
to be problem

I was told there are 3 belts...a.c. alternator and power steering..now someone tells me timming belt
The alternator has its own belt. If battery light is on, it is likely that belt. Once you pop the hood you should have no trouble seeing which belt is missing or broken. If the timing belt broke the engine would not run. The timing belt is also internal to the engine and on this model car a major project to replace. Heck even the accessory belts (AC, alternator, PS pump) are a project to replace, the right wheel has to come off just to get access. Without the alternator belt attached, your car is running strictly off battery power, and that won't last long. So either get it straight to a shop for repairs or tow it to one.
