Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We can't get the red dashboard lock lights to stop flashing when we shut off the
engine. What is happening?

This is a common question. I believe this flashing red light is meant to be a theft deterrent, telling the bad guy this car is locked and alarm is set. Most noticeable at night. It won't run the battery down. If it bothers you, cover it up with something.

My light is on and flashing with doors unlocked. So, I am a bit confused. It has never flashed before today and I have owned it since 2017.
