2004 mazda rx8

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My backyard mechanic says my motor has low
compression. But doesnt know why since it is
rotary. Any ideas?

Rotary engines wear just like pistons engines just in different ways. There are strips on the rotor that help hold the compression in and they wear over time, they're called apex seals
