Well like any other car you have to look out for everything. But usually timing belt, fuel filters are the issue for the cars. But American cars suffer from electrical issues. It is a 2008 car so if the previouse owner actually kept the car in shape then you should really be worried. It all depends if the previouse owner kept the car in shape and looked after it; and if you will keep the car in shape and dont drive insanely over potholes and speed bumps.

?? @CarKnowledge....A Mondeo is not american they are European.....because of this they are usually more expensive to repair as parts especially genuine are from europe also....I had a 2008 mondeo hatch...some things I would look out for are a hissing or slight rattle under accelleration some of this would be normal with a diesel of course but excessive could mean a small problem also hissing comming from the steering wheel will mean new power steering components which from what i have seen is reasonably common in MA mondeos that was really the only problems i had apart from the fact that if you live in an area where rock chips are common make sure u have windscreen insurance as the auto wiper unit needs replacing with the screen as well...
