all warning lights came on while driving, all instruments went off. then would not start wen stopped

Did it go dead while you was driving and then would not turn over at all? If so sounds like possibly your alternator went bad and battery run down trying to run all operating systems by its self. Check battery voltage. If low fully charge battery and the crank it. If it then starts test alternator voltage to see if it operating properly.

Never went dead while driving. I have charged bat up over nite. It started with a jump, if it is alternator will it be ok to drive it 40 miles back home or will it damage anything? Cheers.
