2010 Mercury Milan Trims and Specs

One of the more successful offerings in the domestic auto market is the 2010 Mercury Milan I4. Indeed, this front-wheel-drive five-passenger sedan, not to mention its fraternal twin, the Ford Fusion I4 S, may be destined for worldwide acclaim, featuring, as it does, a number of improvements in power, design, and amenities over last year’s trims. Beginning with standard 16-inch painted aluminum wheels, this base Milan trim also lists premium cloth seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, fold-flat passenger seat, split-folding rear seats, power accessories, including heated power mirrors, steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, a leather-wrapped tilt/telescoping steering wheel, air conditioning, a single-CD player with six speakers, and Sirius satellite radio. Options include the well-regarded SYNC infotainment system, power moonroof, voice-activated DVD navigation, Bluetooth technology, 18-inch chrome alloy wheels, and upgraded audio components. Standard safety features include four-wheel ABS, traction and stability control, side-mounted airbags, front and rear head airbags, post-collision safety system, and a remote anti-theft alarm. If the SYNC option is selected, text/e-mail collision and airbag-deployment notification are added to the list of safety features.

Powering the Milan I4 is a new-for-2010, variable-valve-timed 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder (I4) engine that’s managed by a standard six-speed manual transmission to net 175 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque and to get an EPA-estimated 22/29 mpg. Additionally, a six-speed automatic transmission is optional for the base I4.

Offering plenty of gizmos and goodies, the midlevel 2010 Mercury Milan I4 Premier front-wheel-drive, five-passenger sedan is as well-mannered and performance-oriented as its less pretentious sibling. Adding leather upholstery, multi-level-heated, power-adjustable front seats, digital keypad power door locks, dual-zone climate control, SYNC/Bluetooth technology and infotainment, front and rear floor mats, and a USB connection to the car's list of standard features ensures a pampered driving experience, while extra options such as the VOGA package, with unique trim accents, badging, and Cashmere leather upholstery, up the I4 Premier’s luxury level another notch. Further, standard SYNC-integrated alert systems, front fog/driving lights, and dusk-sensing headlights are added to the list of safety items.

As with its base I4 sibling, the 2010 Milan I4 Premier is delivered with a standard 175-hp, 175-lb-ft/torque inline four-cylinder (I4) engine, but with the addition of a standard five-speed automatic transmission. Mileage, naturally, remains at 22/29 mpg with the I4 powerplant, but wait, there’s more. A 3.0-liter V6 engine and six-speed auto-manual transmission are available for the I4 Premier that’ll bump power up to 240 hp and torque to 223 lb-ft. Mileage, of course, drops some to 18/26.

Equipped and optioned identically to its I4 Premier sibling, the 2010 Mercury Milan V6 Premier AWD five-passenger sedan boasts, in addition to a standard V6 powerplant, standard full-time all-wheel-drive (AWD) traction and security. The AWD system is managed by a center-mounted mechanical, limited-slip differential that provides power to all four wheels all the time. Additionally, trunk space throughout the conventionally powered Milan lineup is a respectable 16.5 cubic feet.

A standard 240-hp, 223-lb-ft/torque 3.0-liter, variable-valve-timed V6 engine and six-speed auto-manual transmission power the 2010 Milan V6 Premier to the tune of 18/25 mpg.
