The value-oriented 2009 Nissan Sentra 2.0 sedan comes with typical entry-level features for 2009, including suede cloth seats, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, a tachometer, a tilt steering wheel, and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player and MP3 jack. The front seats manually adjust four ways, and passengers will find a number of interior storage compartments, including front door pockets, upper dash storage, a driver's-side sunglasses compartment, a center console with adjustable cupholders, and rear cupholders in the center armrest. In addition, the 60/40-split rear seats fold flat to expand the cargo area. Standard safety features include dual-stage front airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags.
A 2.0-liter, double-overhead-cam four-cylinder engine producing 140 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque powers the front-wheel-drive Sentra 2.0. The engine mates to a six-speed manual transmission or an Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission), which delivers smooth and seamless shifting. The Sentra 2.0 accelerates from 0 to 60 in 8.6 seconds, and achieves 24/31 mpg with the manual transmission and 26/34 with the CVT. Electric power-assisted steering and ripple-control shock absorbers come standard, while optional features include antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, which adjusts the braking pressure to each wheel during emergency situations to ensure optimal stopping power. The Sentra 2.0 rides on 15-inch wheels. Optional exterior features include a rear spoiler and splashguards.

The 2009 Nissan Sentra 2.0 S adds a number of features not found on the entry-level Sentra 2.0 trim, including cruise control with illuminated steering-wheel-mounted controls, remote keyless entry, a trip computer, and a six-speaker premium audio system with speed-sensitive volume control and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls. The 2.0 S also adds front seatback pockets, overhead map lights, and a center console storage light, while the driver's seat comes with manual height adjustment. Other standard interior features include suede cloth seats, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, and an outside temperature display. Front-seat-mounted side-impact airbags and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags are among the standard safety features. Outside, standard features include front fog lights and power exterior mirrors.

The sport-oriented 2009 Nissan Sentra FE+ 2.0 SR includes a number of exterior enhancements not found on the other Sentra 2.0 trims, including a unique front fascia with a sport grille, dark-chrome bezel headlights, sporty side sills, and a unique rear end with dark-smoked bezel taillights, a chrome exhaust finisher, and a spoiler with an integrated LED brake light. The front-wheel-drive FE+ 2.0 SR runs on the same 2.0-liter, double-overhead-cam four-cylinder engine powering the other Sentra 2.0 trims. It generates 140 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque, and pushes the FE+ 2.0 SR from 0 to 60 in 8.6 seconds. The engine links to an Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission). The engine pushes the SE-R from 0 to 60 in 7.4 seconds, but still manages decent fuel economy numbers of 24/30 mpg. A sport-tuned Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) includes paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel, so drivers can take control of gear-shifting for a sportier driving experience. Vented front and rear brakes provide plenty of stopping power, aided by an antilock braking system and electronic brakeforce distribution, which makes adjustments to brake pressure in emergency situations to ensure optimal braking. Sport-tuned springs, ripple-control shock absorbers, and electric power-assisted steering also come standard. The SE-R rides on 17-inch wheels with all-season tires.
