Volvo's smaller wagon has all of the features, amenities, and quality that make its larger wagon such a great car. It just has a little less space, which is exactly why its happy owners love it.
Not everyone needs to transport three kids and their hockey equipment, plus a golden retriever. Although the V50 could do that in a pinch, it's the perfect car the rest of the time for commuting, getting the groceries or a piece of furniture home, or taking for a ski weekend.
Naturally, the V50 is stacked with safety features, including Volvo's famous side-impact beams and the Whiplash Protection Seating System (WHIPS). And Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DTSC) comes standard, as do daytime running lights and front and rear fog lights.
Numerous options packages are available to deck out your V50 with gadgets and conveniences. Buyers of the 2.4i can choose a  Select Package (moonroof, roof rails, and premium stereo, to name a few items), Sport Package (17-inch alloy wheels and a dynamic sport suspension are the highlights) or Body Styling Package (spoilers, rear valance, and unique moldings). The most popular may be the Climate Package, which adds heated front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and headlamp washers.
On the T5 and T5 AWD you can add the Premium Package (moonroof, leather seats, roof rails, and more), Audio Package, and Climate Package.
The 2007 V50 is available in three trims ranging from the 168-horsepower base 2.4i to the winter-tackling T5 AWD. Government crash-test ratings are very high, but reliability ratings could be better.
