2006 Buick Rendezvous Overview

New standard features and an upgraded engine highlight the changes to the 2006 Buick Rendezvous, a crossover SUV that features all the storage capability, road height, and sportiness of an SUV with the comfort and handling of a family sedan.
The 2006 Rendezvous comes in the base CX or more luxury-oriented CXL trims, in either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. Traction control is an option on the two-wheel drive only. A standard V6 engine has changed from the old 3.4 185-hp to a 3.5-liter, 195-hp. The optional 3.6-liter, 242-hp V6 is still available. Though the base model was already pretty well equipped, with power features, air conditioning, and keyless entry, in 2006 it also gets OnStar and a rear parking sensor. The CXL adds a lot more luxury and comfort items, and the AWD version comes with ABS and front-side airbags standard (optional in the CX). A DVD player, navigation system, and heated seats are only available with the CXL.
The 2006 Rendezvous comes standard with two rows of seats. The second row conveniently slides back and forth to create either more legroom or storage space. An optional third row bench can be added, though that cuts down on storage space. The second and third row do fold to expand cargo room, though owners complain that the second row does not fold flat. Putting the gear shift on the steering wheel clears up more floor space for extra storage up front.
Owners find the 2006 Rendezvous easy to handle, driving more like a car than an SUV. It is roomy, with lots of storage options. The seats are comfortable for long trips. Poor gas mileage is a big drawback.
