2006 Audi A6 Trims and Specs

New this year is the 2006 Audi A6 3.2 Sedan. This front-wheel drive mid-size comes with a 3.1-liter 255-hp V6 engine and a continuously variable transmission that creates seamless shifting. ABS brakes, traction and stability control, a tire monitor, front and rear fog lights, dual front-side and front and rear head airbags, rain-sensing wipers, and 16-inch all-season tires are part of the safety package.

Audi is all about luxury, and the 2006 A6 3.2 Sedan comes standard with 12-way power front seats, leather upholstery, heated mirrors, heated washer jets, wood and leather interior trim, front and overhead consoles, a 60/40 split-fold rear seat, CD changer, first aid kit, and Bluetooth. If you need more, options add on heated seats and steering wheel, upgraded audio, satellite radio, a sunroof, parking sensors, a ski bag, adn a new S-Line sport package with sport front seats, a sport suspension, aluminum accents, and 18-inch wheels. The trunk hold ups to 59 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. The 2006 A6 3.2 Avant quattro is fueled by a 3.1-liter, 255-hp V6 engine and 6-speed Tiptronic transmission. It has 17-inch tires, limited slip differential, ABS brakes, traction and stability control, fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, and dual front-side and head airbags.

The 2006 A6 3.2 Avant quattro is decked out much like the sedan, with full power features, 12-way power front seats, leather upholstery, an MMI interface, steering wheel controls, front and overhead consoles, keyless entry, CD-changer, cruise control, heated mirrors, a rear window wiper, and Bluetooth. It adds a sunroof, roof rack, and a rear spoiler. There are many options including new adaptive air suspension and adaptive cruise control. Satellite radio, 18-inch wheels, heated seats, memory settings, upgraded audio, universal remote, parking sensors, a navigation system, and upgraded leather is also available. Highlights for drivers include the quattro action in cold climates, responsive handling, and attention to luxury features.

The 2007 Audi A6 4.2 quattro Sedan features more power than the 3.2, as well as a few upgrades in features. It is powered by a 4.2-liter, 335-hp V8 engine (80 more horsepower than the V6), mated to a 6-speed auto/manual Tiptronic transmission. The all-wheel drive mid-size luxury sedan features ABS brakes, limited slip differential, stability control, front and rear fog lights, a tire monitor, rain-sensing wipers, and dual front-side and head airbags. The 2006 A6 4.2 quattro adds xenon headlights.

Inside, the A6 4.2 offers upgraded leather upholstery, driver's memory settings, and surround sound audio, new for 2006. 12-way power front seats also come with power lumbar support. A trip computer, sunroof, self-leveling headlights, reverse-tilt side mirrors (help with parking), and electrochromatic mirrors are other 4.2-only features. It doesn't seem like there could be options left, but heated seats and wheel, a navigation system, parking sensors, remote start, side airbags, shift paddles, and a solar sunroof (that powers a fan when parked in the sun) are just a few. Adaptive air suspension, adapative cruise control, and a new S-Line sport package that adds larger wheels and a sport suspension are other extras. Good looks, good power, good quattro performance, and responsive handling are all higlights of the 2006 A6 4.2 quattro. But it is a gas guzzler.
