The Camry Standard trim is new for 2005, offering prospective buyers a more affordable route to ownership of this best-selling mid-size sedan. There are several changes across the Camry lineup this year, including a new grille, headlights and taillights. ABS, optitron gauges, and steering wheel audio controls become standard features on all models this year.
Standard trimmed Camrys are powered by a 2.4 liter DOHC inline four cylinder engine, paired with either a five speed manual transmission or a four speed automatic. This small engine delivers 154 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque, and highway gas mileage can be expected in the low 30s.
This base model comes equipped with the essential items, like a CD sound system, air conditioning, full power accessories, and cruise control.

The 2005 model year brings a light styling refresh for the fifth generation, which included new designs for the grille, headlights, and taillights. ABS (with Electronic Brake-force Distribution), steering wheel audio controls, and optitron gauges are now across-the-board standard features, and the automatic transmission is upgraded to a more refined five-speed.
The LE is no longer the base level Camry, with the newly added Standard trim replacing it at the bottom of the price scale in 2005.
LE standard features include full power accessories, air conditioning, and a CD audio system. Trim-specific upgrades for the LE are keyless entry, color-keyed side mirrors, and a power driver's seat.
A 2.4 liter inline four engine delivers 154 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque. The small power plant includes Toyota's Variable Valve Timing, and can be paired with a five-speed manual or an electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission. The automatic option is actually a bit more fuel efficient than the manual, at 24/34 verses 24/33 mpg.

The entire Camry lineup received a series of light styling revisions for 2005, including new headlamps and taillights, and a redesigned grille. ABS with Toyota's Electronic Brake-force Distribution is now standard across the board, and the old four-speed automatic is upgraded to a five-speed.
Toyota gives the SE a sporting orientation, but the sole mechanical change is the addition of a sport-tuned suspension. Other exclusive features here deal with presentation. A rear spoiler, 17 inch wheels, fog lamps, a special grille, and special fabrics differentiate the SE from other trims.
This SE is powered by a 2.4 liter DOHC four cylinder, delivering 154 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque. The inline four is paired with either an electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual.
Reviewers and drivers agree that even the sporty SE is not a breathtaking performer, even with the V-6. However, the Camry continues to win praise for its inviting blend of build quality, reliability and safety.

For 2005, the Le is no longer the Camry's entry-level model, due to the addition of the new Standard trim level. The entire Camry lineup receives a styling refresh for 2005, featuring new headlamp, taillight, grille, and wheel designs.
All trim levels above the Standard are also available with a more potent power plant. The 3.0 liter DOHC Variable Valve Timing-enhanced V-6generates 210 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to a five-speed electronically controlled automatic as the sole transmission option. Fuel economy is estimated at 20/28 mpg,
The LE costs less than $1000 more than the entry-level Standard, but a few additional standard features have been added. LE upgrades include a power driver's seat, color-keyed side mirrors and keyless entry. These items are added to a CD audio system, cruise control, and full power accessories.

The fifth generation Camry received light face lift in 2005, which included new designs for headlights, taillights, grille, and wheels. The four-speed automatic transmission has also been replaced by an electronically controlled five-speed.
The XLE is the most upscale finish for Toyota's best-selling mid-size sedan. Standard features on the LE and XLE include cruise control, power windows and door locks, keyless entry, and a power driver's seat. The XLE adds a premium sound system, auto dimming mirror, and automatic climate control. Leather seating is optional on the four cylinder XLE, as is a navigation system and an in-dash CD changer.
This XLE is powered by a 2.4 liter DOHC inline four, which delivers 154 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque. There is no manual transmission availability with the XLE trim, and the four cylinder is paired here with the new five-speed electronically controlled automatic. This engine and transmission combination produces fuel economy of 24/34 mpg.

The 2005 model year brought a late-cycle styling refresh, highlighted by new headlight, taillight, grille, and wheel designs. These would be the last significant changes until a full redesign for 2007.
The SE trim finishes the mid-size family sedan with a sport-focused affect. Exclusive features on the SE include special interior fabric and trim, a rear spoiler, fog lamps, a special grille and 17-inch wheels. All of the standard items on the lower trim levels are also included here, like keyless entry,a power driver's seat, full power accessories and cruise control.
The SE also gets a sport-tuned suspension system, which combined with the optional V-6 engine, offers the best driving experience of any Camry. The 3.3 liter DOHC engine delivers 225 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque An electronically controlled five speed automatic transmission is paired with all V-6s. The Camry's EPA estimate slips to 21/29 mpg with the larger engine.
