The sportiest of the Neons in terms of look and road performance, the 1998 Dodge Neon R/T Coupe is based on the stock car competition Neon, and is aimed at those who want an affordable racing-inspired car. Like the R/T sedan, the two-door coupe has special sports suspension and the twin-cam 2.0-liter, 150hp I4 engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, and dual stripes add to the racing image.
Inside, you get dual front airbags, air conditioning, console, rear defrost, intermittent wipers, and leather trim. ABS, power windows and locks, cruise control, sunroof, and remote keyless entry are all options. The 1998 Neon R/T Coupe is a pleasingly fun little rocket, thanks to its size, and most owners love the engine performance, sports-like handling, and tight cornering, all at an unbelievably low price. Aftermarket modifications are cheap and easy to do as well. Repairs (head gaskets), wind and road noise, and cheap materials are downsides.
