I spoke with four different employees while trying to purchase a single out-of-state vehicle, and the experience went downhill fast. The original salesperson was unavailable, so I was passed around. One associate tried to justify a $3,000+ markup on a 12-year-old car by adding things like all-weather floor mats and an almost $1,000 doc fee. Then the general manager stepped in after I presented a fair TrueCar-based offer and even agreed to cover $1,000 in shipping myself—but things only got worse. They attempted to overcharge on shipping and appeared to double-charge taxes. At that point, it felt less like a negotiation and more like predatory pricing tactics. I ended the call. This was easily the worst dealership experience I’ve had—and exactly why I prefer to avoid dealerships altogether. Consider this a heads-up for anyone thinking about going through them
