2025 Hyundai KONA Electric: Where Technology Meets Value
Technology and convenience where it matters most
From morning school runs to weekend road trips, the 2026 Hyundai PALISADE three-row SUV combines practical family features with upscale convenience and technology.
In this two-part guide we start by breaking down how the PALISADE’s safety features help solve those recurring real-world family challenges, before moving on to look at its advanced technology in more detail.
Part 1: Solving real-world family challenges
The morning rush: Getting everyone in and on the road
Mornings with multiple children mean controlled chaos — someone can't find their backpack, another needs help with their car seat, and you're searching for your keys while carrying lunch boxes and a laptop.
Digital Key 2 Premium[1] eliminates the morning key hunt entirely. Available from SEL Convenience trim upward, this feature turns your compatible smartphone or smartwatch into your key. As you approach the PALISADE with arms full of school supplies and sports equipment, it unlocks automatically with a touch of the handle. Better yet, you can share digital keys with your partner, teenage drivers, or caregivers — no more coordinating physical key handoffs.
Adding multiple children and/or carpooling means potential for even more chaos. The PALISADE's standard one-touch walk-in feature transforms third-row access from a wrestling match to smooth operation. Press a single button on the second-row seat, and it slides forward automatically, creating a wide pathway to the third row.
Need to throw bags or sports gear in the back? Now standard on the SEL (coming late 2025) and higher trims, the power liftgate[2] with height adjustment opens to your preset height to help avoid garage ceiling scrapes. The system recognizes when you're standing behind the vehicle with the key fob and opens automatically after a few seconds — no awkward foot waving required.
School drop-off safety
The PALISADE’s Safe Exit Assist[3] helps address the risks of kids opening car doors into oncoming traffic. When the system detects approaching vehicles, it provides visual and audible warnings and can temporarily prevent the rear doors from opening. During hectic school drop-offs when children's excitement at seeing friends might override caution, this technology helps provide an extra set of eyes and intervenes as needed.
For parents of more reluctant school-goers, Advanced Rear Occupant Alert[4], available on SEL and above, uses ultrasonic sensors calibrated to help detect small children. Suppose movement is detected in the rear seats after you've locked the vehicle. In that case, the system can progress from dashboard warnings to horn honks to smartphone notifications through Bluelink[5] to let drivers know someone may still be in the vehicle.
Communication and comfort solutions
The PALISADE's standard Passenger Talk system allows front-seat passengers to easily talk to occupants even in the third row by using the vehicle's audio system to broadcast your voice clearly to rear passengers. No more twisted necks, repeated instructions or yelling, and no more wondering if everyone heard you about staying buckled up.
Rear Seat Quiet Mode, also standard across the lineup, addresses the opposite challenge. When younger children finally fall asleep, this feature mutes the second- and third-row speakers while maintaining front audio. Parents can continue with navigation prompts, phone calls, or quiet music without disturbing naptime.
Six USB-C ports distributed throughout the cabin put an end to arguments over who gets the charger. Two ports up front, two in the second row, and two in the third allow passengers to charge their devices simultaneously. Available wireless phone charging in the center console includes a cooling fan to help prevent the driver’s or front-seat passenger’s phone from overheating.
Cargo space explained
Behind the PALISADE’s third row, you'll find 19.1 cubic feet of cargo space — enough space for a week's worth of groceries or several large sports bags. Fold the third row using the available power controls (standard on Limited and Calligraphy), and cargo space expands to 46.3 cubic feet. With both rear rows folded, you have 86.7 cubic feet of cargo capacity.
Three-zone automatic climate control comes standard, meaning every passenger can dial in their own heating, cooling and fan settings. The system includes dedicated vents for all three rows, ensuring even the way-back passengers stay comfortable.

Part 2: Advanced technology that makes a difference
Integrated Dash Cam: Professional-grade protection
The Calligraphy trim's built-in front and rear Dash Cam system[6] eliminates the need for aftermarket Dash Cam devices cluttering the cabin. This factory-integrated solution can record continuously while driving and automatically save footage when impacts are detected. The system can store up to 20 hours of recordings and logs comprehensive data, including date and time.
When parked, motion detection can activate recording if someone approaches the vehicle — valuable protection in parking lots where door dings and scratches often go unwitnessed. Video segments can be reviewed directly on the PALISADE's 12.3-inch touchscreen or transferred via the MicroSD card located in the glovebox.
Remote Smart Parking Assist: Conquering tight spaces
Available on Calligraphy trim, Remote Smart Parking Assist[7] is a class-exclusive feature[8] that lets you move the PALISADE in and out of parking spaces while standing outside of the vehicle. Using the key fob, you control forward and backward movement to help you get in and out of tight spots.
Multiple sensors monitor the surroundings, automatically stopping if obstacles are detected. While you maintain control via the key fob, the technology handles minor steering corrections, helping to ensure the vehicle stays centered in the space.
Blind-Spot View and Surround View Monitors: Visual confirmation
Another class-exclusive feature, the Blind-Spot View Monitor[9] (standard on SEL Premium and above) displays a live camera feed of your blind spots in the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster whenever you activate the turn signal. Unlike traditional blind-spot warning systems that only provide alerts, this technology can show you exactly what or who is there — other vehicles, cyclists, or pedestrians.
The cameras work in all weather and at all times of day, and the display appears instantly when you signal. As a bonus, the system proves helpful for checking curb distance during parallel parking, potentially helping you avoid scratching up wheels.
The Surround View Monitor[10] (standard on SEL Premium and above) synthesizes feeds from multiple cameras to create a bird's-eye view of your PALISADE. This is fantastic when it comes to navigating tight parking spots and, like the Blind-Spot View Monitor, can also help you to steer clear of curbs.
PALISADE’s advanced digital connectivity and smart features
From the PALISADE’s front seats, the curved digital instrument cluster housing available dual 12.3-inch displays creates a premium driving experience. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™[11] come standard, eliminating cable clutter while supporting full smartphone integration. The built-in navigation comes with three years of complimentary map updates through Bluelink+, so you're not dependent on smartphone navigation should you not wish to use it.
Hyundai Pay[12], standard across the lineup, integrates payment directly into the touchscreen interface. It quickly, seamlessly, and securely helps drivers reserve and pay for parking.
Advanced Driver Assistance
Highway Driving Assist[13] combines adaptive cruise control with lane centering for highway driving. The system helps maintain safe following distances, can handle stop-and-go traffic, and helps keep you centered in your lane with minimal driver input. The Calligraphy trim advances to Highway Driving Assist 2[14], which helps assist the driver change lanes.
Exclusive to Calligraphy trim, the 12-inch color Head-up Display projects critical information directly onto the windshield. Speed, navigation directions, and safety warnings appear in your line of sight, eliminating the need to glance away from the road.
Over-the-Air software updates can do more than you might guess
The PALISADE supports Over-the-Air (OTA)[15] updates for major vehicle systems, not just infotainment. Navigation maps, system software, and even powertrain calibrations can be updated remotely.
Making it all accessible
These technologies aren't reserved for luxury buyers. With a starting MSRP of $39,435[16], SE trim includes Rear Seat Quiet Mode, Passenger Talk, wireless phone integration, and the full complement of USB-C ports.
Moving up to the SEL with a starting MSRP of $41,940 adds the useful conveniences of Advanced Rear Occupant Alert, and wireless charging.
The SEL Premium with a starting MSRP of $45,300 adds Parking-Collision Avoidance Assist – Reverse[17], Blind-Spot View Monitor, and Surround View Monitor.
Fewer fill-ups, saving time: Hybrid option available
For maximum efficiency and fewer stops for gas, look to the PALISADE Hybrid Blue SEL (starting MSRP $44,160), which reaches up to 35 mpg highway and has an EPA-estimated range of up to 619 miles[18]. In the highest Calligraphy trim package, with a starting MSRP of $56,780, the PALISADE Hybrid delivers exclusive features like Remote Smart Parking Assist, and the built-in Dash Cam — technology that transforms both daily routines and road trips alike.
The PALISADE’s available Advanced Rear Occupant Alert, Rear Seat Quiet Mode, Safe Exit Assist, and one-touch third-row access provide crucial safety and convenience for parents of young children.
The Dash Cam stores recordings on in-car memory cards. The system can record up to 20 hours of footage from both front and rear cameras.
Digital keys can be shared through the MyHyundai app with Bluelink with family members or caregivers who have compatible smartphones. You control access levels and can revoke keys when no longer needed.
Operation is straightforward — hold the appropriate button on your key fob while standing within range. The vehicle moves slowly with multiple safety systems active.
There’s a strong argument that SEL (coming late 2025), with a starting MSRP of $41,940, hits the sweet spot with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pad, Advanced Rear Occupant Alert, smart liftgate, and heated front seats. Families prioritizing advanced safety features might choose SEL Premium for the Blind-Spot View Monitor.
