4.5

The Toyota Pickup series has garnered a strong reputation for reliability, durability, and off-road capability across its many model years. Owners frequently praise its ease of maintenance and longevity, often reporting that these trucks easily withstand the test of time and rough conditions. However, many drivers express a desire for better engine power and performance, particularly criticizing sluggish acceleration in several models. The ride comfort is also a common point of contention, with some reporting a bumpy experience. Bought mine new for $10,000 in 1990. Now has about 245k miles on it and still runs great thanks to the wonderful mechanics I have had. Best trip in it was to tip of Baja California and back, before they built the airports down there. Those were the days... There is nothing on the market to replace it, so I will keep it as long as I can! Im a 63-year-old woman, retired salmon and wildlife biologist.

as it is it (stock) will out wheel a built jeep, great on mileage, not pretty but who cares about looks any way, they are relativley cheap, they come with a solid front axle, 4:11 gearing, they are like tanks when it comes to snow wheeling it will go any where especially if it has tire chains,

Performance is very unimpressive, but it is a tough, sturdy truck. I could easily haul a 1000 lb payload with decent performance, and it tackled winter roads with ease. It also had a sturdy frame that made for ideal off-roading and hauling. It looks fantastic, gets decent mileage, and it's a very fun truck to drive. Heads turn when you drive this rare truck, as only a few survive. It has a tendency to rust and the interior is cheap and plastic, but that is common for most 1980s cars. It isn't a particularly comfortable truck, with a rough ride and smallish interior, but it is a great workhorse.

Performance is great for a 22R 2.4L. Never had any major problems and it was bullet proof. Had 245,000 miles on it when I sold it. It ran excellent and never smoked or burned any oil. I liked the body styling of this particular year. Great gas mileage. Consistantly got 32 mph, even at 245,000 miles. Low maintenance. It was fun to drive. Just a little small for me being '6 3" tall. Sold it to buy something larger.
