This was my dad's car. 25HP, 3 speed manual transmission. Non synchro first gear. Maximum speed was about 55 mph. I learned to drive in this car when I was 15 (1963). Very scary driving on the Hollywood Fwy. It had a tough time making it over the Cahuenga Pass. Compared to the Dauphine, my Dad's 1964 VW bug felt like a Cadillac. The Duaphine's doors and body felt very frail compared to the VW. The engine was pitiful - water-cooled in the rear. But it worked!

Impressive looks from a small car, reasonably comfortable seats and a fair sized boot. Rather spartan dash with only the bare essentials. The gear-shift lever was long and quite vague, but after a while even that was forgotten due to the fun one had driving it. I would definitely buy another one if I could find a Dauphine in good condition.

46 Horses not enough to climb long hills, it had 3 starting options, normal key start, hand crank which actually worked when i killed the battery, left the lights on, and the famous lawn mower rope pull.easy to manuever, no left lane driving unless you were the only one in the car, i was the only car that hit an ice patch on 9th Ave. and stopped before hitting anything all the big cars hit other cars or the curb
