The Mercury Capri models have offered a fun and unique driving experience that many owners appreciate. They often highlight the car's sporty design and mix of hard and soft tops, along with reliable performance and affordability. However, some owners express concerns about limited speed, road noise, and high maintenance costs. The Capri is generally recognized for its enjoyable handling and good fuel economy, making it a beloved choice for those looking for an engaging convertible experience.

It was, and still is a High Fun Factor ride. Italian design, Mazda reliability with optional Turbo, from Ford of Australia at affordable prices. I had a 1991 for a couple years and really enjoyed driving it here in Florida. Recently I bought, what some say, was the best and final version 1994 Capri. Looks great and runs smooth. Non-Turbos aren’t fast but tend to be reliable and the Turbos are quick and sport tuned. They’re getting harder to find, prices have been increasing in past few years - but you can still find some in good shape, “everything works” for few thousand $$$
This is my first new car ever. I bought it out of college in 1976 and I still drive it today, 32 years later! It's perhaps one of the best cars I've ever owned. It's was reliable and fun transportation as my only car for 11 years. My wife and I moved to California from New York, and then back in this car. My oldest daughter came home as a new-born in this car! Now she owns one of her own.
Love most everything about my car - great handling, fun to drive, great gas mileage. easy to work on. Love that it is unique - color, style. Actually has more trunk room than my volvo convertible. Will eventually repaint in original color - Reef Green and have interior redone. plus a new rag top.
I inherited my Capri from my father who purchased it new in 1992. He left it to me with only 11,500 miles on it. I enjoy driving this little zipper though I must remind everyone it is NOT a sports car. It's a sporty car. IF the top worked correctly, I'd drive it as a convertible more often. Lots of turbo lag. Fun to surprise the occasional Dodge Magnum, etc. I plan to upgrade the tires, get a hardtop and new front/rear bumpers. A keeper at 34 mpg hiway!
This is my favorite car I've ever owned. When you put 1984 into perspective, the performance was phenomenal with the fuel injected 302 HO V8 putting out nearly 200 HP and pushing around under 3000 pounds. The styling of the Capri was much better than the Mustang with manly fenders, deep and menacing nose and elegant fastback hatch glass. Oh, sure. It's a Ford from the 1980s, so the quality was not good. But the car had great seats, was a helluva lot of fun to drive and made you feel like a man while driving it.
