Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: blind-spot monitoring, active parking assistance, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and active braking assistance
- Infotainment: Mercedes’ latest third-generation suite of MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth, plus Android Auto
- Fuel efficiency: the GLC 350e’s 35 miles of electric range and 28 mpg combined fuel economy
Which Mercedes-Benz GLC trim should I buy?
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC offers these trims:
- GLC 300: The entry point brings rear-wheel drive, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a nine-speed automatic transmission, heated power seats, a heated steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. It’s the best-value choice if you want the core GLC experience with a strong equipment list.
- GLC 300 4Matic: This version adds all-wheel drive to the same 2.0-liter turbo-four and nine-speed automatic setup, making it the better fit if you want the added traction of AWD.
- GLC 350e 4Matic: This plug-in hybrid adds electric assistance, a 23.3-kilowatt-hour battery pack, and a combined 313 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. It suits you if you want the most efficiency-focused version in the lineup.
- Pinnacle: This trim adds more driver-assist tech, interior comfort, digital headlights, and a head-up display, making it the most fully equipped choice in the 2025 range.
What Mercedes-Benz GLC do most buyers choose?
The Mercedes-Benz GLC years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2027.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|

Customers say
The Mercedes-Benz GLC has garnered consistent praise from owners across all model years for its luxurious comfort, advanced technology, and powerful performance. Drivers appreciate the smooth ride and spacious interiors, making it a comfortable choice for both daily driving and long trips. However, some have expressed concerns about high maintenance costs, the complexity of certain tech features, and occasional reliability issues. Overall, the GLC stands out as a well-rounded SUV that blends style with substance, though some drivers feel the infotainment system could be more intuitive.

Why it stands out
The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC stands out as Mercedes’ more successful compact SUV replacement for the GLK, trading that model’s awkward styling and cramped feel for a longer, sleeker shape that brought better style and practicality. It shares its basic platform and many parts with the C-Class sedan and wagon, and its appeal is rooted in being a premium compact SUV that emphasizes comfort, refinement, and everyday usefulness rather than off-road toughness. The standard GLC also came well equipped, with features such as adaptive braking, a rear-view camera, a power tailgate, and electrically adjustable front seats.
For buyers, the 2016 model’s lineup was straightforward but varied enough to cover different needs. The GLC 300 used a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 241 horsepower, rear-wheel drive was standard, and 4Matic versions added all-wheel drive. The GLC 350e plug-in hybrid paired that engine with an electric motor for all-wheel drive and a total system output of 320 horsepower. If performance mattered more, the AMG GLC 43 brought a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 362 horsepower and all-wheel drive. The GLC Coupe also joined the range in 2016, offering nearly the same practicality in a more rakish body style.
There are a few drawbacks to keep in mind. The GLC does not have a standout reliability reputation, and owners have reported suspension and electrical issues, along with piston and cylinder problems on some GLC 300 models. It is also not aimed at hardcore off-road use, and while it delivers a smooth, relaxing drive, it is not especially fun to drive. Even so, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC remains appealing because it combines luxury-car polish, strong practicality, and a broad enough range of versions to suit both efficiency-minded and performance-focused shoppers.
