Mazdaspeed is designed for lightness and come standard with handling aids including sway bars, Bilstein, coil overs. And a power boost to 178 hp. 38 more than any other Miata until the 2019 ND’s CD were released. Fabulous handling, cruises nicely top down at 80 mph, and the power band when Turbo kicks in above 3,500 rpm. Find a car that has not lived in the North as rust can eat them up. I love mine.

Performance – Great, but highly limited from factory. NEEDS aftermarket upgrades to reach full potential. Increases of 30% in crank horsepower and torque from simple full intake and exhaust mods. With an ECU, larger injectors, intake/MBC & exhaust, these cars put down 215-230 whp... From 178hp stock, that's a huge increase. Build Quality – Excellent for it's size and type. Some rattles, but I expected much worse from a car with this kind of suspension setup. Appearance – Excellent, but smallest vehicle on the road meaning you're nearly invisible to some drivers and are a rock chip and door ding magnet. Watch out. Cost of Ownership – Medium. Fun Factor – Outstanding.

2004 Mazdaspeed MIATA is just a hoot to drive! It responds well to every situation and it is pretty well up to the driver to determine the limits. Shifts easily and quickly. Handles very well in every situation that you find yourself in. Besides all of the above, it looks GREAT!

The MAZDASPEED MX-5 Miata was the second production car available in the U.S. with the special sports package created by MAZDASPEED, Mazda's in-house motorsports and specialty-car tuning division. The first was the MAZDASPEED Protege, which was available as a limited edition vehicle in 2003. The MAZDASPEED MX-5 Miata was also a limited edition, based on Mazda's popular two-seat roadster. In creating the MAZDASPEED MX-5 Miata, the automaker focused on five areas--the Miata's performance, handling, appearance, driver-vehicle connectivity, and value. As far as performance was concerned, the MAZDASPEED MX-5 Miata received a 25 percent power boost over the standard Miata, thanks to a turbocharged and intercooled 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that pumped out 178 horsepower. The standard transmission was a six-speed manual, with refined shift points and a strengthened clutch. Helping to improve the Miata's handling were a lower ride height, beefed-up springs and dampers, a modified double-wishbone suspension, and rack-and-pinion steering. Outside, the vehicle was available only in two colors, which were Velocity Red and Titanium Grey. Standard features included black cloth-trimmed upholstery, power windows, power door locks, dual second-generation airbags, a black vinyl convertible top, a glass rear window, anti-lock braking system, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a Bose six-speaker audio system with CD. A Grand Touring package added black leather bucket seats and a black cloth soft top, among other features.
