Why it stands out
The 2023 BMW M8 stands as the pinnacle of performance among BMW’s cars, and that positioning is a big part of its appeal. It is available as a coupe, convertible, or sedan-style Gran Coupe, and it is based on the BMW 8 Series with a full performance treatment from BMW M. For shoppers who want a flagship grand tourer with serious capability, the M8 combines strong driving appeal with premium interior materials and technology that is easy to use.
This model year also brings a few notable updates. All 2023 M8 models come in Competition specification, a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard, and BMW offers more exterior colors than before. A new M Carbon front bucket seat option is also available. The tradeoffs are worth noting, though: cargo space is limited, it can be hard to enter and exit, and there is some minor confusion related to the assisted driving tech.
