Used Audi Coupe for Sale near North Carolina
Audi Coupe Overview
For two years, Audi exported the Coupe Quattro to the U.S. Based on the same B3 platform as the Audi 80 and 90, the Coupe was a 2-door hatchback featuring the 90's 2.3-liter I5 engine. The 20-valve engine hit 164-hp and was paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Audi Coupe evolved out of the European rally competitor, the ur-quattro. The U.S. version was part sports car, part luxury tourer. It was decked out with the usual Audi trimmings, such as leather seats, power features, trip computer, and sunroof -- all standard. Rear seats folded down for more cargo room. Outside, the fastback slope and rear spoiler gave the Coupe a sporty look, and the galvanized zinc-coated frame was especially designed by Audi to combat rust and ensure a long life for its cars. The unsurpassed quattro all-wheel drive deserved its powerhorse reputation for tackling rough weather conditions, and made driving in such conditions much more pleasant and worry-free.
With all these features, especially the quattro, the Coupe was particularly heavy. While this made it safe on the road, with strong traction and tight handling, it detracted from its 5-cylinder engine power. This may account for its limited popularity in the U.S. While it looks like it has the potential for a sporty ride, its powertrain couldn't compete with the weight, resulting in slow off-the-line performance.
The Audi Coupe was discontinued in 1991, amid Audi's general unpopularity in the U.S. due to an erroneously negative "60 Minutes" report in the late '80s. This, combined with the general underperformance of the Coupe added up to a short-lived life. Of course, that only lends an air of uniqueness to those that are still going strong and looking as new as ever out on the U.S. roads today.

The Audi Coupe has garnered a positive reputation across its model years, with owners commonly praising its build quality, distinctive styling, and enjoyable performance, particularly from its five-cylinder engine. Drivers appreciate its handling and overall comfort. However, some have expressed dissatisfaction with the limited power in certain models and the high maintenance costs. Despite these concerns, many find it a fun and reliable car that stands the test of time, making it a favorite among enthusiasts.

What people say
great car to drive cheep to buy good solid build quality. Not the best for handling but looked the part. low running costs easy to work on and cheep quality parts were easy to get hold of. I had hours of fun driving this car my all time favorite car!!!
Ive owned my audi for 3 months now and what can i say it hasnt missed a beat, many other £750 cars would have fallen to pieces by now but even with over 150k miles on the clock the 2litre 8valve engine just keeps on going with no rattles, leaks or smoke!! the handling is ok but is more set up for comfort rather than banging around a track. and as for fuel economy its about the same as diesiel at 45-50mpg depending on the length of the journey. One of these over jap crap any day!!!
Aside from the atrocious two-piece bumpers the car is gorgeous. I think the B4 hood update is a good mod, and getting some euro-bumpers REALLY helps this car look new to the point that you'd think it was a 2000+ car. The downside of the car is the underpowered 7A engine. The infamous 5 cylinder engine is capable of a LOT of power, but the 20v N/A engine is pretty weak. It really needs a turbo. Otherwise it's a fantastic car. The AWD is great, the locking rear differential is fun, and the car is a tank. I've run it through 5 rally-x events and gone ice racing several times. I've beat people with twice the horsepower, rally tires, and rally suspension. It's a great car.
its actully an Audi UR Quattro S1 10v turbo in unmarked show room condition. only done 80k miles on the odo meter. owned it for a long time now its a car which iv kept as a collector, as i hav a soft spot for these n i jus love it! technicaly its advanced beyond its years for its age has digital dash n a talkin computer with diff lock control, switches n heated seats and all the refinments u can think of in modern cars appart from sat nav :)
Amazing car, talked to you, via a digital dash - light years ahead of its time. Mine was a german girl speaking english. I didn't seem to listen to the actual fault just her voice. Best on long trips, you became on with the car, it became a natural extention, in the same way motorbikes do. Thos was the only car that had the same feel as a performance road bike, and the 5 cylinder engine had just about the same torque from a power to weight ratio. A thrilling ride.
