New & Used 2026 RAM 1500 for Sale near South Dakota

How much does the 2026 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 5.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,881 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and cab configurations.

Is the 2026 RAM 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2026 RAM 1500 earns a 4/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

That lines up with the truck’s broad appeal: you get multiple powertrain choices, premium interior materials in higher trims, and off-road-ready versions if you want more capability. The trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and there is no base two-door work truck.

With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2026 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2026 RAM 1500 is presented as a refined full-size pickup with a wide range of configurations, and the expert notes emphasize its strong engine lineup and premium-feeling higher trims. The Hemi V8 is described as smooth, and the truck’s broader setup gives you flexibility to match the vehicle to your needs.

It also includes a mild-hybrid system on some engines, which supports efficiency without changing the truck’s core character. If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is choosing a configuration that doesn’t fit your needs, since the lineup varies widely in capability and equipment.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at higher-mileage trucks or more heavily optioned examples. Focus on condition, equipment verification, and whether the truck’s cab, bed, and powertrain setup match how you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Tradesman models are pretty basic, with cloth seats and lots of plastic trim, while Big Horn adds more visual flair, Laramie brings leather, Limited and Limited Longhorn add open-pore wood trim, and Tungsten gets high-end leather surfaces. The lower-end trims also wear blacked-out grilles, while higher trims move to chrome or more distinctive fascia treatments.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque, the Hemi V8 makes 395 hp and 410 lb-ft, and the Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six makes 420 hp and 469 lb-ft. A high-output Hurricane is also offered in select versions with 540 hp and 521 lb-ft.
• Safety package: Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross traffic alert come standard. Evasive Steer Assist, Intersection Collision Warning, and traffic sign recognition are standard on Tungsten and available on other models through option packages. Hands-Free Active Driving Assist is included with the Advanced Safety Group II package.
• Infotainment: Ram’s Uconnect 5 system includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Screen setups vary, with a 3.5-inch display on base Tradesman models and larger 7-inch or 12-inch driver displays on most others, plus an optional 10.25-inch passenger screen and available head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The Hemi V8 gets a mild bump in fuel efficiency from eTorque, and the turbocharged inline-six delivers superior fuel economy by two additional mpg in a 4WD truck.

Which 2026 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2026 RAM 1500 is offered in 10 trim levels: Tradesman, Express, Warlock, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, RHO, Limited, Limited Longhorn, Tungsten.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the most affordable path into the lineup, but it is also the most stripped-down, with a basic interior and the small 3.5-inch driver display. It makes sense if you want a work-focused truck and can live without the nicer cabin materials and larger screens found higher up.
• Express: This trim keeps the lower-priced positioning and blacked-out grille treatment, so it suits you if you want a simpler look without moving far up the price ladder.
• Warlock: Like the other lower-end trims, it keeps the blacked-out grille theme and sits near the affordable end of the range. It’s a good fit if you want a more styled entry point without jumping to the midrange.
• Big Horn: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more style than the base trims, including a more polished interior presentation. It’s a smart middle ground if you want a nicer daily driver without paying for luxury trim content.
• Laramie: This trim brings leather and a more upscale cabin, and it also opens the door to stronger audio and more premium equipment. Choose it if comfort matters more than keeping the price down.
• Rebel: This is one of the off-road-oriented choices in the lineup, and it shares a distinct grille treatment with the other rugged models. It suits you if you want a more adventurous look and capability-focused positioning.
• RHO: This is another off-road-ready model, positioned alongside the Rebel in the lineup. It makes sense if you want the more rugged side of the Ram 1500 range.
• Limited: This trim adds open-pore wood trim and standard premium touches that push the truck into luxury territory. It’s a strong pick if you want a high-end cabin without going all the way to the top.
• Limited Longhorn: This is the more distinctive luxury-leaning choice, with the same upscale wood-trim treatment and a more premium presentation. It’s best if you want a truck that feels especially rich inside.
• Tungsten: This is the top-end trim, with high-end leather surfaces, the most advanced standard safety content, and the most impressive audio system in the lineup. Buy this if you want the most luxurious and fully equipped Ram 1500.

Safety-package note: advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, and some of the most advanced driver-assistance items are reserved for higher trims or option packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,881 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $51,726, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $51,726 sits slightly below last year's $54,612.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more truck for the money today. For a future seller, it also means you should pay close attention to trim, condition, and equipment, because well-kept examples are more likely to stand out when you eventually list the truck.

The broad trim range can work in your favor if you choose a desirable configuration, but it can also widen the gap between average and strong resale outcomes. Trucks with the right mix of features and condition should remain easier to move than stripped or poorly equipped examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2026 RAM 1500 earns five-star overall safety ratings from NHTSA for the Quad Cab, while the Crew Cab loses a star even though its frontal, side and rollover scores match the smaller-cab truck’s ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross traffic alert come standard on all 2026 RAM 1500 trucks. Evasive Steer Assist, Intersection Collision Warning, and traffic sign recognition are standard on the Tungsten grade and available on other models through option packages.

Ram’s Hands-Free Active Driving Assist is included with the Advanced Safety Group II package. It is hands-free, but it still requires driver attention, monitors attentiveness, and only works on certain roads. If you want the most advanced safety content, you’ll need to shop higher trims or add packages.

Should I buy a 2026 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The Hemi V8 returns for 2026, giving you a characterful engine choice that many pickup buyers still want.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $43,383, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $51,726 average.
• It brought a major update with lots of new tech and a hands-free driver-assistance system.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year truck with the Hemi V8 back in the lineup and a broad range of trims and powertrains, the 2026 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2025 is the more budget-friendly path and still brings a strong mix of tech and capability.
