New & Used 2026 Hyundai Kona for Sale nearDurango, CO

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Generally — you rate it 4/5, and the expert rating is 7.83/10. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

The 2026 Kona stands out in the small-crossover class for its size, passenger room, and cargo volume, and it also brings turbocharging and all-wheel drive to the table. Its technology is described as impressive for the segment, and Hyundai simplified the lineup this year while adding more standard safety features.

The trade-offs are that the styling is polarizing, the base powertrain is unimpressive, and some controls can be hard to read. Even so, it still looks like a strong fit if you want a roomy small SUV with broad appeal and useful equipment. Good and great deals account for 42.7% of listings, which gives you a decent amount of market choice.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2026 Kona’s reliability case leans on its strong warranty coverage, including 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain protection and five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage, plus five years of roadside assistance. Its standard equipment and overall value proposition also support the idea that it is built to be an easy vehicle to live with.

The expert evaluation also points to a well-rounded package rather than a fragile one, with strong technology, standard safety content, and a practical cabin. The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that the base powertrain is not especially satisfying, so you may want to prioritize a better-equipped version if you plan to keep it for years.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Hyundai Kona?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and focus your inspection on condition, because a strong clean-inventory rate does not replace a careful check of prior damage, maintenance, and wear. Pay extra attention to the cabin controls and the overall feel of the powertrain, since the model’s weak points are more about day-to-day usability than headline features.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is split into SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited, and the biggest differences are wheel size, styling details, and equipment. The base trims are the ones most likely to leave you wanting more, especially if you care about stronger acceleration and richer cabin features.
• Powertrain: The SE and SEL Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 hp and 132 lb-ft, while the SEL Premium and Limited get a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 190 hp and 195 lb-ft. The turbo also pairs with a more satisfying eight-speed automatic, while the base engine uses a CVT.
• Safety package: A full suite of driver assistance systems is standard, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, rear occupant warning, safe exit warning, and automatic high beams. Higher trims add features such as a Blind-Spot View Monitor, surround-view camera, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: Every Kona gets a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluelink+ connected services. The Limited adds dual 12.3-inch screens, and wireless charging is standard on most Konas.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine returns 27 to 31 mpg in combined driving, depending on trim and AWD, while turbo models range from 26 to 28 mpg combined.

Which 2026 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2026 Hyundai Kona is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Kona experience with the standard 12.3-inch touchscreen and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and can live with the weaker base engine.
• SEL Sport: This trim keeps the base powertrain but adds a bit more style and equipment than the SE. It is the step up if you want a nicer look without jumping to the turbo.
• SEL Premium: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it brings the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine with 190 hp and 195 lb-ft, along with the more satisfying eight-speed automatic. If you want the strongest mix of performance and value, this is the one to target.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, with the dual 12.3-inch display setup, and it can be paired with extras like the surround-view camera and parking aids. Choose it if you want the most upscale Kona experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, so even the lower trims give you a lot of protection equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Hyundai Kona?

The market looks favorable if you want a used Kona now, with a healthy mix of deal pricing and clean inventory.

• Clean inventory: 92.7% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2026 Kona earns the IIHS’s Top Safety Pick+ rating and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA. The imperfect score is due to four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite is unusually comprehensive for this class, with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, rear occupant warning, safe exit warning, and automatic high beams. Higher trims add a Blind-Spot View Monitor, surround-view camera, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.

Should I buy a 2026 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 42.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds more standard safety features and keeps the lineup simplified with four trims.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It remains a mostly unchanged second-generation SUV with plenty of cargo space and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest overall package, the 2026 is the better default choice because it adds more standard safety content and keeps the Kona’s roomy, tech-forward appeal intact. If you are shopping primarily on price and want a similar formula, the 2025 is worth a look because its core strengths are already well established.
