New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for Sale nearHaxtun, CO

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns an expert rating of 5.33/10. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

Chevrolet builds this truck to meet almost any need, and it gives you one of the only diesel engine options in the class. The cabin is spacious and the in-cab technology is impressive in most trim levels, which helps the Silverado feel more useful and easier to live with than its work-truck roots might suggest.

The trade-offs are real, though: poor fuel economy and concerning safety ratings are the biggest knocks, and the truck also falls short in performance and towing technology. Even so, the value equation is strong enough to make it worth considering if you want broad capability and a lot of configuration choices.

Good and great deals account for 35.9% of listings, so there is still meaningful market availability if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is presented as a truck that can cover a wide range of needs, but its long-term appeal depends on how much you value its strengths against its weaknesses. The available diesel engine is a major plus for buyers who want an efficiency-oriented powertrain, and the truck’s spacious cabin and easy-to-use technology support everyday usability.

Chevrolet also includes the first scheduled maintenance visit on the house, which helps a little with early ownership costs. The expert evaluation still points to weak fuel economy, disappointing performance, and safety concerns, so the truck feels more like a practical choice than a trouble-free standout.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Silverado’s shortcomings in fuel economy, safety, and towing tech may continue to matter after the novelty of the configuration breadth wears off.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing or heavy work. Focus on overall condition, cabin wear, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the specific truck you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, RST, LTZ, High Country, and ZR2, with the WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss using a more basic dashboard design than the rest of the range. The higher trims bring a more modern interior, while the RST adds a more polished look and the test truck’s blacked-out package gave it a more stylish appearance.
• Powertrain: You can get a turbocharged four-cylinder, a turbocharged diesel six-cylinder, or two V8 engines. The TurboMax turbo-four makes 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, while the Duramax diesel is the efficiency play and is rated at 23-24 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every trim level and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Super Cruise are not standard on the test truck.
• Infotainment: Higher trims get a 13.4-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital display, Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and split-screen functionality. OTA capability is not stated.
• Fuel efficiency: The TurboMax was expected to return 18 mpg combined, while the test truck averaged 15.4 mpg in mixed driving and 14.5 mpg in city-only driving. The Duramax diesel is rated at 23-24 mpg combined.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 9 trim levels: WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, RST, LTZ, High Country, and ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• WT: This is the work-focused entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Silverado’s basic utility without paying for extra comfort or tech.
• Custom: A step up from WT if you want a little more everyday appeal while staying near the bottom of the range.
• Custom Trail Boss: Choose this if you want the Trail Boss look and hardware in a more affordable package than the upper trims.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it moves you into the more modern cabin and broader feature set without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• LT Trail Boss: Pick this if you want the LT’s equipment with a more rugged, off-road-oriented setup.
• RST: A strong choice if you want a more stylish truck with the cleaner, more modern interior and the available blacked-out appearance package.
• LTZ: This is for buyers who want a more upscale feel and more premium equipment.
• High Country: Choose this if you want the most upscale mainstream Silverado experience.
• ZR2: This is the most specialized trim in the lineup and suits buyers who want the most aggressive off-road character.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every trim level, so you get the core driver-assistance package no matter which version you choose.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every Silverado 1500 trim level and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. The truck also includes a rear-seat reminder, Buckle to Drive, and Teen Driver technology.

The test truck lacked blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Super Cruise. That means you should not assume the Silverado comes loaded with the kind of advanced safety tech some rivals offer.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Chevrolet’s diesel engine option and strong in-cab technology are key reasons this year stands out.

The bottom line: Buy the 2026 if you want broad configuration choice, a diesel option, and a truck that feels more modern inside than its reputation might suggest. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on the best-equipped truck you can find at the right price, since the Silverado’s core weaknesses in fuel economy and safety remain part of the package.
