How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 2.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 788 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for a niche luxury SUV.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

It stands out for its unmistakable design, powerful engines, and impressive off-road capability, while still delivering the kind of luxury and tech you expect from Mercedes-Benz. The trade-offs are clear: it is rougher around the edges than many luxury SUVs, and it is not the most practical choice if you care most about cargo space or everyday comfort.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 35.0% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 G-Class is presented as a rugged luxury SUV with serious capability, and its updated powertrains and tech suggest Mercedes is continuing to refine the formula. The gasoline lineup uses a turbocharged inline-six in the G 550 and a twin-turbo V8 in the AMG G 63, both paired with mild-hybrid assistance and permanent four-wheel drive with locking differentials.

Mercedes also says the G-Class is still the real deal when it comes to capability and luxury rather than just a showpiece. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is a complex, high-cost SUV, so maintenance and repair expenses can be significant once warranty coverage ends.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a high-priced SUV with advanced electronics and off-road hardware. Focus on overall condition, because the G-Class is as much about presentation and feel as it is about capability. Pay close attention to signs of heavy use, since some examples may have seen more trail duty than others.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base G 550 gets 19-inch wheels, while 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and 20-inch wheels are also available; AMG G 63 models come standard with 20-inch wheels, with 22-inch wheels and carbon-fiber exterior trim optional. The cabin is already quite opulent, but AMG models add a sportier steering wheel and controls that better suit the performance character.
• Powertrain: The G 550 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six rated at 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG G 63 keeps a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Both use a nine-speed automatic and permanent four-wheel drive with locking front, center, and rear differentials.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. The 2025 model also adds route-based speed adaptation, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature.
• Infotainment: You get MBUX with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus dual 12.3-inch screens. The system also includes augmented reality navigation, excellent voice recognition, and an off-road menu with compass, tire pressure and temperature, and inclinometer readouts.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel-economy ratings were not available at the time of publication, though the new mild-hybrid systems and the G 550’s downsized engine might improve on the prior model’s 14 mpg combined figure.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is offered in 2 trim levels: G 550 and AMG G 63.

Here's the short version:

• G 550: This is the better-value choice if you want the G-Class experience without stepping all the way up to AMG pricing. It still gives you the signature design, strong off-road hardware, and the new turbocharged inline-six, so you get the core character of the model with less excess.
• AMG G 63: Choose this if you want the most power and the most dramatic driving experience. The V8, stronger acceleration, and AMG Active Ride Control make it the more special and more capable high-speed version, but it is the more expensive path.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, with standard driver-assistance features including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and a 360-degree camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 788 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.98% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 97.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $194,320, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $194,320 sits slightly below last year's $200,294.

That kind of price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class hadn’t received IIHS or NHTSA safety ratings at the time of publication.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. Mercedes also includes Pre-Safe, which can tighten seatbelts and close windows if a crash appears imminent.

For 2025, the G-Class adds route-based speed adaptation, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature that can bring the SUV to a standstill if the driver becomes incapacitated.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model brings updated powertrains and tech, including the new inline-six G 550 and added driver-assistance features.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the G-Class with updated mechanicals and tech, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is simply getting into a G-Class for less money, a nearby model year may be the better value path, especially if you can find a well-kept example with strong condition and service history.
