Is the 2025 Kia Telluride a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Kia Telluride earns a 4/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

It’s a stylish three-row SUV that the expert assessment says is well suited to long-distance travel, city driving, and trail use near a national park. The main trade-offs are outdated technology and an irritating lane-assist system, with sticky brakes in thick traffic also called out.

For family use, it brings comfort, capability, and strong safety credentials together in a package that still feels distinctive. 42.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Kia Telluride reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Telluride’s appeal is reinforced by its comfortable ride, practical three-row layout, and the expert view that it remains a polished, capable SUV even after several updates. The performance notes also describe the V6 as smooth, refined, and amply powered, which supports the sense that the powertrain should feel dependable in everyday use.

Kia’s warranty coverage adds another ownership advantage, including a five-year/60,000-mile new vehicle warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that aging technology and driver-assist quirks may be more noticeable as the vehicle ages.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia Telluride?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with off-road-oriented equipment. Focus on overall condition, brake feel, and how the driver-assistance systems behave on a test drive, since those are the kinds of issues that can matter most in daily use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige, with X-Line and X-Pro versions adding standard all-wheel drive, a locking center differential, increased ground clearance, and blacked-out styling. The base LX is the value entry point, while the higher trims add more upscale cabin materials and more advanced tech.
• Powertrain: Every Telluride uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque paired with an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard on LX, S, EX, and SX, while AWD is standard on the X-Line and X-Pro versions and available on S, EX, and SX.
• Safety package: Drive Wise includes forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and safe exit assist. Highway Driving Assist is standard on every trim, with lane-change assist added on higher trims.
• Infotainment: SX and SX Prestige trims get a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen under one piece of glass, while SX Prestige adds a 10-inch head-up display. The Telluride does not have wireless Apple CarPlay or wireless Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert road-trip result was 20.2 mpg, which aligns with the EPA’s 20 mpg combined rating.

Which 2025 Kia Telluride trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Telluride is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point and the best-value starting place if you want the Telluride’s core strengths without paying for extra luxury or tech. It still gets the full Drive Wise safety suite and Highway Driving Assist.
• S: This trim adds a step up in equipment while staying on the more affordable side of the lineup, making it a sensible middle-ground choice if you want more features without jumping too far in price.
• EX: This is the trim to watch if you want a stronger balance of comfort and value, especially because it can be paired with X-Line or X-Pro equipment for added capability.
• SX: This trim brings the more advanced digital cockpit setup, including the 12.3-inch driver display and 12.3-inch touchscreen, so it suits you if tech matters more than keeping the price down.
• SX Prestige: This is the most upscale choice, adding the 10-inch head-up display and the richest-feeling cabin presentation, so it fits you best if you want the most premium Telluride experience.

Higher trims also gain additional safety and convenience features, including lane-change assist on versions equipped with Highway Driving Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia Telluride?

It’s a buyer-friendly moment if you’re shopping carefully and comparing listings.

• Deal availability: 42.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,890 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,952, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Kia Telluride's resale value?

The current average of $35,958 sits slightly below last year's $41,853.

That drop suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you’re planning to resell later, the current softness could help you buy at a better entry point now, even if it tempers near-term resale expectations.

The Telluride’s broad appeal as a family-friendly three-row SUV should still support demand over time. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Kia Telluride safe?

The 2025 Kia Telluride earns a five-star overall rating in crash tests performed by NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia’s Drive Wise suite includes forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and safe exit assist. Highway Driving Assist is standard on every trim, and higher trims add lane-change assist.

The main caveat is the lane-centering system, which the expert drive notes found overly argumentative in curves and bends. That means the hardware is strong, but you’ll want to test the driver-assist behavior yourself before buying.

Should I buy a 2025 Kia Telluride or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 42.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The expert assessment says it remains well suited to long-distance travel, city use, and trail driving.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $35,779, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $35,958 average.
• It feels especially family-friendly and polished.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest current-market mix of inventory, pricing momentum, and proven capability, the 2025 is the better default choice. If your priority is saving a little money up front and you’re comfortable with a very similar overall formula, the 2024 is the smart value alternative.
