How much does the 2023 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 6.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,411 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and it fits a polished, upscale midsize sedan with a strong reputation for safety and a broad range of available technology. The 2023 5 Series is described as more comfortable than sharply sporty, but it still offers more engagement than many staid competitors. It also appeals if you want a premium sedan with substance as well as style, even if it has become less sporty than earlier generations.

35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 5 Series is presented as a polished luxury sedan with a strong reputation for safety and plenty of standard driver-assistance equipment. It also carried over without major changes for the model year, which can be reassuring if you prefer a more settled used-car proposition. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying luxury-car money for a vehicle that can still be costly to keep in top condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW 5 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a pre-purchase inspection that checks for signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or deferred maintenance. Pay close attention to overall condition, since this model year was not a cheap used buy and well-kept examples are the ones most likely to justify the price. If a car has optional advanced features, make sure they work as expected before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW 5 Series?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,411 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,779, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $37,780 sits slightly below last year's $40,609.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point now than a year ago. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pain later. The model’s premium positioning and broad appeal can help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on mileage, condition, and equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $43,738, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,780 average.
• The redesign leans more heavily into design, technology, and comfort.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2023 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid inventory and a strong satisfaction signal. If you’re willing to spend more for the redesigned model’s comfort-first character, the 2024 is the better secondary path; if you’re price-sensitive, the 2023 is the one to target first.
