Used 2022 GMC Canyon for Sale nearLexington, KY

How much does the 2022 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 6.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,577 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2022 GMC Canyon earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise the Canyon’s smooth ride, responsive handling, and quiet cabin, and they also like its interior quality and easy-to-live-with driving character. The truck’s premium look and feel, plus its easy-to-use technology, help it stand out if you want a midsize pickup that feels a little more upscale than many rivals.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, advanced safety features are not standard, and value is a weak point. That makes it a better fit if you care more about comfort, refinement, and everyday usability than bargain pricing.

Good and great deals account for 34.5% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe the Canyon as smooth, responsive, and enjoyable to drive, and they also praise its quiet cabin and solid interior quality. That kind of feedback suggests the truck feels well sorted in daily use, with a character that owners can count on over time.

The expert evaluation also points to a capable, easy-to-live-with midsize pickup with multiple powertrains and a straightforward driving experience. GMC also covers the cost of the first scheduled maintenance visit, which helps early ownership costs a bit.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic drivability and more about choosing a truck that has been maintained well and equipped with the features you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are not the same as problem-free trucks. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you’re considering an AT4 or a higher-mileage example, since condition can vary a lot by how the truck was used. Focus on cabin wear, tire condition, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re looking at.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Elevation Standard is the most basic version, while the Denali brings the most upscale look and feel with features like a chrome grille, 20-inch wheels, heated and ventilated leather seats, navigation, and a Bose audio system. The AT4 adds a more rugged appearance and off-road-oriented hardware, while the lower trims feel more conventional inside.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 200-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 308-hp 3.6-liter V6, or a 181-hp 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder with 369 pound-feet of torque. The base engine is adequate but uninspiring, while the V6 and diesel bring stronger capability.
• Safety package: The Driver Alert package includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and rear parking assistance. It is available on the Elevation and AT4 and standard on the Denali, but rear park assist is only available on models equipped with leather seats.
• Infotainment: The Elevation Standard gets a 7-inch color touchscreen, while the Elevation upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth streaming audio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The AT4 adds wireless smartphone charging, and the Denali adds navigation and a high-definition rearview camera.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-liter four-cylinder returns 22 mpg combined, or 21 mpg with 4WD. The turbodiesel gets 23 mpg combined in RWD form and 22 mpg with 4WD, while the V6 returns 21 mpg combined in RWD form and 19 mpg with 4WD.

Which 2022 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation Standard, Elevation, AT4, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation Standard: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the most basic equipment. It gets the 7-inch touchscreen and the core truck essentials, but it leaves out the more advanced convenience and safety content found higher up.
• Elevation: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds the larger 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while staying below the more expensive trims. If you want a more modern daily driver without jumping too far in price, this is the trim to target.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the more rugged look and off-road hardware, plus features like wireless charging and the available off-road performance package. It suits you best if you plan to use the truck for trail duty or just want the tougher appearance.
• Denali: This is the luxury pick, with the most upscale cabin and the most complete feature set, including navigation, a high-definition rearview camera, and the Driver Alert package as standard. It’s the right choice if comfort and premium presentation matter most.

The Driver Alert package is available on the Elevation and AT4 and standard on the Denali, but rear park assist requires leather seats.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,577 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.51% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,159, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $30,172 sits slightly below last year's $32,274.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper resale gains if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. The Canyon’s broad appeal as a midsize pickup with a premium feel can still support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2022 GMC Canyon earned four out of five stars for overall crash protection from NHTSA, with four stars for frontal crash protection, five stars for side protection, and three stars for rollover resistance. It also earned a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Canyon’s safety equipment is limited on lower trims. The base Elevation Standard does not include advanced driver aids, though it does have tire-fill alert and Teen Driver. The Driver Alert package adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and rear parking assistance, but that package is only available on the Elevation and AT4 and standard on the Denali. Rear park assist is only available on models with leather seats.

The IIHS results also show some important caveats: the Canyon earned mostly Good ratings, but it received a Poor rating in the front passenger-side small overlap test structure and safety cage category, a Poor rating for headlights, and a Marginal rating for LATCH child-seat anchors. It also lacks several key features you might expect, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and lane-keeping or lane-centering assistance.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds a new Denali Black Edition package and renames the High Elevation package as Elevation Premium.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,747, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $30,172 average.
• It adds a refreshed look and an AT4 trim while staying familiar underneath.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,482, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $30,172 average.
• It brings a redesigned, more upscale Canyon with more technology and an added AT4X trim.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2022 is the safer default choice. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money while keeping much of the Canyon’s core appeal. If you want the newer redesign and are willing to pay more, the 2023 is the upgrade path to consider.
