How much does the 2020 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 7.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,150 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2020 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year.

The 2020 BMW 5 Series sits in the G30 generation, which had already moved the model toward a more comfortable luxury-sedan character without giving up its performance roots. You get a broad range of powertrains, so you can prioritize efficiency, all-weather traction, or stronger straight-line performance depending on the version you choose. It also remains appealing as a refined, well-equipped midsize luxury sedan with real performance credibility.

With 37.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2020 model year also benefited from the G30’s strong safety and technology content, and it carries a better reliability record than the earlier F10 generation. That makes it a more reassuring used buy than some older 5 Series models, especially if you want a luxury sedan that still feels modern.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying for neglected maintenance on a complex luxury car, so service history matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 BMW 5 Series?

At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a shop that knows BMWs. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and signs of prior bodywork or uneven wear, since those details can matter more than mileage alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 BMW 5 Series?

This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,150 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.05% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,755, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $25,144 sits slightly below last year's $27,051.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the car in strong condition, because a lower entry price can help protect your position later. Well-maintained examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $28,678, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $25,144 average.
• It adds a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a bigger infotainment touchscreen.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter starting point because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you want the newer refresh and can stretch your budget, the 2021 is the better secondary path.
