How much does the 2017 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 1.17% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,597 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.5/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. The review summary highlights reliability, ruggedness, solid construction, and long-lasting value as recurring positives. That fits especially well if you want a body-on-frame midsize SUV with off-road capability and family-hauling usefulness, though it is less appealing if you prioritize city driving comfort. With 35.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary repeatedly emphasizes reliability, dependable construction, and long-lasting value, which are exactly the traits used buyers tend to look for in this model. That kind of feedback suggests the 2017 4Runner can be a reassuring choice if you want something you can count on over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota 4Runner?

At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on signs of off-road wear, uneven tire wear, suspension condition, and evidence of poor repairs. It also makes sense to pay close attention to overall interior and exterior condition, since that often reveals how hard the SUV has been used.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,597 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.17% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,718, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $27,144 sits slightly below last year's $27,465.

That modest decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy with less pressure today. For a future seller, the current pricing still reflects steady demand rather than a sharp drop, so the model remains relatively resilient. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should still have a decent path to holding value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $23,940, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $27,144 average.
• It adds useful upgrades while keeping the same rugged off-road focus.

The bottom line: If you want the newer year with strong owner satisfaction and a still-reasonable market, the 2017 is the better default choice. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2016 is the smarter value play, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
