Is the 2017 Ford Expedition a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Ford Expedition earns a 4.29/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2017 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.29/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with praise centered on comfort, value, and the overall package. Some shoppers noted minor defects and interior-material concerns, so a careful inspection still matters on used examples. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is likely finding a vehicle with deferred maintenance or cosmetic wear rather than a fundamentally weak reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Expedition?

At 66.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, interior wear, and signs of past repairs, since those issues can affect value quickly. Because this is a large family SUV, also pay close attention to how well the cabin, electronics, and ride quality have held up.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Expedition?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,298 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,050, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $14,050 sits slightly below last year's $14,753.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later. Demand should remain supported by the Expedition’s space, comfort, and family-friendly appeal.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.29/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $19,557, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $14,050 average.
• It brings a full redesign with more room, more comfort, and more cargo space.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the better value play if you want a roomy, comfortable full-size SUV without stretching your budget. If you can spend more and want the newer redesign’s added space and capability, the 2018 is the stronger upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2017 is the smarter starting point; for shoppers prioritizing the newest package, move up a year.
