About 2015 Rolls-Royce Ghost
Rollin’ out for the Rolls-Royce Ghost in 2015 comes a slew of changes and personalization options that create a truly unique vehicle. The new and refined Series II model has all the distinguishing British quality money can buy. The distinct characterization of the newly designed hood, rounder bumpers, and taller front grille look a bit more on-par with Rolls-Royce’s previous impressions, but now gone are the droopy front headlights. Mounted atop the front end, luminous adaptive LED headlights light your way (although they have a slight Chrysler 200 flavor). And newly enlarged, chrome-tipped air duct intakes improve airflow to the front brakes. The Ghost's powerplant remains unchanged. Strong and durable, the 563-hp twin-turbo W12 engine gets the same sneakily swift acceleration, clocking a 0-60 time of 4.8 seconds, but it also comes with the same harsh rating of 13 mpg city/20 highway. The ZF 6-speed transmission in this rear-wheel-drive machine still shifts beautifully, and the GPS-controlled shift points are quite a technological marvel. Having no trouble reaching 155 mph with nary a G-force to note, the Ghost’s meticulous engineering radiates from within. As for elegant flair, first thing you’ll find inside the new models are glitzy chrome accents and trimmings around the instrumentation and dashboard. As you sit, you’ll feel the comfortable, redesigned seats with a roomy 41.7 inches up front for your legs. Rear passengers won’t complain either with 42.3 inches of legroom making the Ghost a veritable suite on wheels. Without sparing any convenience or technology, the Ghost can now become a WiFi hotspot to stay connected. To keep fingerprints off the screen, a “Spirit of Ecstasy” rotary controller handles operation of the touchscreen. This long-bodied luxury sedan is also endowed with a modest 17.3 cubic feet of max cargo space for anything else you can't live without. You may also want to savor the variety of new wood and leather interior options this year. Addressing the absent and numb steering reported with the 2014 model, both the Standard Wheel Base (SWB) and the Extended Wheel Base (EWB) get a newly engineered steering and suspension setup. The SWB trim also offers an even firmer suspension as an option to take the newly sharpened handling further. If you want to get maximum steering capability for the 2015 Ghost, a newly optional Dynamic Driving Package offers improved steering pinion gear and a custom, thicker steering wheel into the mix. This superb drivability may make you want to turn the volume up on the in-house-built Bespoke audio system, though early drivers have reported poor performance. Sitting at the epicenter opulence, the 2015 Rolls-Royce Ghost makes sure this year’s model isn’t the same as last year’s with an abundant list of new features. Sadly, still no new engine options for this relatively heavy car. It does handle its girth well, yet it isn’t really built for aggressive cornering. It is built for a pleasingly smooth, quiet ride, with more than enough sneaky power at your command. Since the 2009 introduction of this 4-door, there have been relatively few changes (being mostly cosmetic back in 2014), but 2015 may be the last year you can get a new Ghost for a while with no word on changes over the horizon.
