2015 Jaguar XF test drive
overall

Jaguar's XF costs less and delivers more than its competition. It’s one of the smartest buys in its segment, with plenty of performance, roomy accommodations, excellent road manners, and exclusivity.
The Jaguar XF is a medium-size luxury sedan from this famous premium builder. It’s a stylish and luxurious choice that’s a departure from the usual BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes-Benz models that make up its most direct competition. Jaguar is known for its performance cars, and the XF delivers classic front-engine rear-drive behavior, even when equipped with all-wheel drive. Power can come from a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, or a 5.0-liter V8 that’s also supercharged. The availability of all-wheel drive keeps the XF on the shopping list of people living where winter strikes. The XF is an individualistic choice that has broad appeal.

Its an amazing car with a few issues if you will. The control panel buttons are melted. Melted you ask, the coating on the buttons are plastic of some sort and theres apparently a lot of heat coming out or around the panel and as a result, the buttons get stuck. This makes it difficult to say the least. Other than that, much love for the car.

Good car...great features, decent value, great looking. Its missing more controls, like raising the drivers seat, additional ways to control the panel. 4 out 5

Is the 2015 Jaguar XF a good car?
Generally — the 4/5 user rating and 8.17/10 expert rating point to a car that appeals if you want a stylish, luxurious midsize sedan with a more individualistic personality than the usual BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes-Benz alternatives. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.
The XF’s appeal comes from its classic front-engine, rear-drive character, broad powertrain range, and available all-wheel drive for winter weather. It’s also described as a smart buy in its segment, with strong performance, roomy accommodations, excellent road manners, and a distinctive design that helps it stand apart from mainstream luxury sedans.
25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.
Is the 2015 Jaguar XF reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The XF is presented as a value-rich luxury sedan with standard equipment that other brands often charge extra for, and its performance-oriented hardware is part of the appeal. The available powertrains and all-wheel-drive setup suggest a car built for confident everyday use, while the cost-effectiveness notes point to a model that can feel like a bargain relative to similarly priced rivals.
The performance notes also describe the transmission and AWD system as smooth and seamless in normal use, which supports the idea that the car’s core mechanical setup is well sorted. On the other hand, the same notes mention some age-related structure movement, steering-column shudder, and a stop/start system that can feel intrusive, so long-term ownership risk for used buyers is more about condition and complexity than a simple yes-or-no reliability verdict.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Jaguar XF?
At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a full vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body repairs, suspension behavior, and any signs of electrical or drivetrain issues. Because this car is both premium and performance-oriented, condition matters a lot more than mileage alone, especially if you’re comparing examples with different powertrains or equipment levels.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The XF’s styling is clean and distinctive inside and out, and XF Sport models have blacked-out trim instead of normal chrome. The cabin uses wood veneers, stitched premium leather, and an aluminum dashboard band, so you should compare how much visual and material richness each listing actually has.
- Powertrain: The XF offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, and supercharged 5.0-liter V8 options. The 3.0-liter V6 is described as energetic, smooth, and well matched to the 8-speed automatic, while the AWD system is rear-biased and can send power forward when needed.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes airbags, seatbelts with pretensioners, high-strength steel in key areas, Emergency Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, and dynamic stability control. The text also notes that the car had not yet been rated for crash safety by U.S. agencies or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
- Infotainment: The XF’s technology includes navigation, voice control, parking aids, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and adaptive front lighting. The system is described as slow to respond and reliant on the touchscreen for functions like climate control.
- Fuel efficiency: The XF is said to return about 20 mpg combined, with EPA estimates of 17/27 mpg city/highway.
Which 2015 Jaguar XF trim should I buy?
The 2015 Jaguar XF is offered in 2 trim levels: XF 2.0T Premium, XF 3.0 AWD Sport.
Here's the short version:
- XF 2.0T Premium: This is the entry point, and it starts the range with the XF’s distinctive styling, premium cabin materials, and the broad value story that makes the car appealing. It makes the most sense if you want the XF experience at the lowest price and care more about design and luxury feel than maximum power.
- XF 3.0 AWD Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want the strongest all-around mix of performance and equipment. The supercharged 3.0-liter V6 is described as energetic and smooth, and the AWD system adds confidence for winter driving without losing the XF’s rear-drive character.
The safety content notes that the car had not yet been rated for crash safety by U.S. agencies or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, so condition and inspection quality matter regardless of trim.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Jaguar XF?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 86 listings available.
- Clean inventory: 65.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,601.40, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2015 Jaguar XF safe?
The XF had not yet been rated for crash safety by U.S. agencies or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. In Europe, the 2010 and 2011 XF earned 4 stars overall from Euro NCAP.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes airbags, seatbelts with pretensioners, a body structure that uses high-strength steel in key locations, Emergency Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, and dynamic stability control. The XF also includes driver aids such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive front lighting, voice control, navigation, and parking aids.
The main caveat is that the lack of U.S. crash-test ratings and the 4-star Euro NCAP result trail the stronger results posted by some rivals, so you should put extra weight on inspection quality and the condition of the specific car you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2015 Jaguar XF or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The XF is described as a stylish, luxurious, and individualistic midsize sedan with a broad powertrain range and available all-wheel drive.
The bottom line: The 2015 XF makes sense if you want a distinctive luxury sedan with strong performance, good value, and a characterful alternative to the usual German choices. If you’re price-sensitive, focus on the best-maintained example you can find rather than chasing the cheapest listing, because condition and history matter a lot in a car like this.
