Summary
With 36 currently listed for sale near Wichita, KS and an average price of $10,999.00, 38.9% of 2014 Honda Pilots for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Honda Pilot 4.44 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Honda Pilot stands out as a practical midsize crossover SUV built around space and utility. It has lots of room for people, lots of room for cargo, and lots of room to stash all your stuff, making it a strong fit for buyers who need a family-size vehicle that can carry as many people and as much gear as possible while still fitting within owners’ budgets and garages.
That focus on function over style is central to its appeal. The 2014 Honda Pilot might not be pretty or the most technologically sophisticated conveyance, but it is designed to do the job well, and that straightforward approach is part of why it can be so appealing to the people who need it most. Owner feedback also points to spacious seating, reliability, comfort, and versatility as recurring strengths. At the same time, some drivers have noted hard shifting and a wide turn radius, so its strengths in practicality come with a few everyday compromises.

The cargo space stands out above all others, all adults and children in carseats have space. Most vesitile vehicle seat related, cant beat 8 seats!! Love this vehicle!!

The pilot is a solid vehicle if you take care of it. My sister in law bought one new in 2003 and still has it. My son has a 2013 with 111,000 miles. If you take of it and do the required maintenance it will last well over 200,000 miles. Dont skip the timing belt interval this is a interface engine and will be junk if the belt breaks.

The Pilot seems to be in good condition. That said, it had been involved in a more serious accident which gave me reason to hold off on its purchase. In addition there were approximately $2,000 in fees that made me walk away.

I sold Hondas for 5 years and the only thing I would change is the brand of tires. I would go with Michelins which is what came on them from the factory when I was selling them.

2014 Honda Pilot Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2014 Honda Pilot prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2014 Honda Pilot cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $10,801 |
| Year-Round Low | $10,624.93 |
| Year-Round High | $11,266.05 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $10,989 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.71% |
Prices have softened 1.71% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 758 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $10,624.93, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Honda Pilot a good car?
Generally — 4.44/5 from owners, which is a strong sign that the 2014 Honda Pilot delivers on what matters most to shoppers. The expert rating is 6.83/10, and the model scores 8/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.
Owners repeatedly praise its spacious seating, reliability, and comfort, and they also like how versatile it is for carrying more passengers and gear. That lines up with the Pilot’s core mission: a practical, family-size SUV built around space and utility rather than flash. If you want a straightforward vehicle that prioritizes room and everyday usefulness, this one fits that brief well.
The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals.
Is the 2014 Honda Pilot reliable?
Owners rate it 4.44/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. Review feedback points to reliability, and the expert write-up also describes reliability as expected to be better than average.
The expert evaluation adds that the Pilot’s cost of ownership is favorable, and it notes that reliability is expected to be better than average based on outside data sources referenced in the review. That combination suggests the Pilot can be a sensible long-term buy if you choose carefully.
For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by age and family-duty miles.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Pilot?
At 57.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
Start with a vehicle history report so you can screen for prior damage, title issues, and repeated ownership changes. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with signs of heavy family use. Focus your walkaround and test drive on overall condition, because this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the least expensive version and keeps things basic, while the EX adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a 10-way power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system. The EX-L adds leather seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power sunroof, and a power tailgate with separate liftglass. The Touring adds navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, a premium audio system, memory for the driver’s seat, and unique wheels.
- Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic. Variable Cylinder Management helps conserve fuel, and available 4WD with Variable Torque Management adds traction support.
- Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is standard, and the Pilot includes a basic reversing camera. The review also notes that the model lacks many modern driver-assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, collision warning, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot information.
- Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, a USB port, triple-zone climate control with a humidity sensor, and a basic reversing camera with poor resolution. Navigation and a better camera are available on the EX-L, while the Touring adds a premium sound system, video input jacks, and a 115-volt power outlet.
- Fuel efficiency: The Touring 4WD is rated at 17 mpg city/24 highway/20 combined, and the review says skipping 4WD improves each figure by 1 mpg. The expert also recorded 18.9 mpg in mixed suburban driving.
Which 2014 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?
The 2014 Honda Pilot is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The LX is the value entry point, but it lacks the comfort and convenience upgrades found higher up the range, and it stays closer to the Pilot’s basic safety and tech setup.
- Sweet-spot trim: The EX-L is the best all-around pick if you want the Pilot’s family-friendly strengths with leather seats, heated front seats, a sunroof, and a power tailgate without jumping to the top trim.
- Premium/top trim: The Touring is the most feature-rich choice, adding navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, premium audio, memory seating, and distinctive wheels.
The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the Pilot still misses many modern driver-assistance features, so don’t expect advanced safety tech even in higher trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Pilot?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find decent value.
- Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 758 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.71% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 57.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,624.93, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Honda Pilot's resale value?
The current average of $10,801 sits slightly below last year's $10,989.
That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market stays soft. For a seller, the key takeaway is that the Pilot’s value is holding reasonably well rather than appreciating, so condition and mileage will matter a lot when it’s time to list.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Honda Pilot safe?
It earns four-star ratings from NHTSA overall, and the IIHS called it a Top Safety Pick.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is designed to help disperse crash energy away from the passenger compartment. The Pilot also includes a basic reversing camera, but the review notes that it lacks many modern safety technologies, including adaptive cruise control, collision warning, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring.
One important caveat is that the IIHS result predates the tougher small-overlap frontal test, so the rating does not reflect that later evaluation.
Should I buy a 2014 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 57.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.71% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- You get a practical, space-first family SUV with strong utility and better-than-average expected reliability.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $11,835, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,801 average.
- It remains a spacious, 3-row, 8-passenger crossover SUV with a family-friendly layout.
The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and can live with older tech, the 2014 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly newer example, the 2015 is the better fallback for shoppers who want to stay in the Pilot family while keeping the same basic formula.
